The batting pair maintained a good partnership until the 5th over when Smriti Mandhana was caught out by Captain Cross. The bowler for the over was Hannah Jones and Smriti’s score was 19 runs off 12 balls. Next up came Sophia Dunkley. In the following over, Dani Wyatt hit a fantastic, well timed four. However, in the 9th over she too was caught out by Georgie Boyce at a team score of 56. Dani’s score was 24 runs off 20 balls. This was an important wicket for the Manchester team and a momentum break for Southern Brave. Next in line was Stafanie Taylor.

She accompanied Sophia well and also obtained two LBs in the 12th and 13th overs each. Unfortunately, her partner and the well-set batswoman, Sophia was caught out by Hannah Jones. Southern Brave lost another critical player which made conditions more favourable for Manchester. Sophia’s score was 28 runs out of 25 balls. Sophia’s wicket was followed by the entry of Maia Bouchier. Unfortunately, she was outed with a score of 12 runs off 9 balls by Alex Hartley who also took the consecutive second wicket of Amanda-Jade Wellington.

Immediately on the next over’s last ball, Southern Brave’s Captain Anya Shrubsole was bowled out by Hannah Jones. In the last over, captain Kate Cross outed Fi Morris on her first ball and the inning was ended by Karla Rudd and Stafanie Taylor with a total of 123 runs at a loss of 7 wickets. Southern Brave hit a total of 11 fours in the first inning.

The second inning was opened by Manchester Originals’ Lizelle Lee and Emma Lamb, facing off Southern Brave’s Captain Anya Shrubsole. After seven overs of successful partnership, Lamb was stumped out by Shrubsole. The fielder executed an excellent throw which landed a direct hit on the off stump. Emma pulled off a considerable score of 32 runs off 23 balls, hitting 5 fours. Third in line was the batswoman Mignon Du Preez. The next two overs did not see any fours or sixes. In the 11th over, Lizelle shot the ball into the air to hit a powerful six. After two overs of considerable run scoring, Mignon hit the second six for her team, narrowly missing being caught out by Maia Bouchier.

Unfortunately, as soon as the 14th over ended, a downpour started due to which the match could no longer be continued. After playing 70 balls, Manchester Originals had a total score of 97 runs off 70 balls at the loss of one wicket with Lizelle and Mignon not-out. They hit a total of 11 fours and 2 sixes. Since the match could not be completed, Manchester Originals was declared the winner by 17 runs through the DLS method.
