The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier 2025 will feature an exciting head-to-head clash between Nepal Women and Hong Kong Women. The match is all set for 8:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST), at Asian Institute of Technology Ground, and is pivotal as both teams eye for a spot in the Global Qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Ahead of the Asia Qualifier, Nepal Women have undergone several extensive preparations, including practice matches in India and bilateral series—both at home and abroad. Nepal has yet to progress past these qualifiers, with their campaigns in 2019, 2021, and 2023 all ended in disappointment. In 2019, Thailand advanced unbeaten to the global qualifiers, with Nepal suffering their only loss of the tournament against them. In the 2021 edition, Nepal fell short again, suffering losses to both Hong Kong and the UAE. In 2023, Nepal’s hopes were dashed in the semifinals after a loss to Thailand.
This year’s challenge looks equally demanding. In Group C, Hong Kong is considered Nepal’s toughest opponent, and the two clashes between them could be decisive in determining the group leader. If Nepal finishes in the group first, and move on to the Super 3 stage, they will likely face formidable teams such as the UAE and Thailand.
Nepal women’s recent outing T20I Tri-Series had been quite challenging for the team, losing all matches against Netherlands and Thailand Women. While on the other hand Hong Kong still struggles with their last played Women’s T20I Quadrangular Series, winning only one of their three games.
Head-to-Head:
Nepal’s rivalry with Hong Kong is competitive, with the former winning five of their 11 T20Is, while losing four, and two games abandoned. This encounter is crucial for both the teams, with Nepal eager to be dominant on Hong Kong Women and claim their maiden win in this edition, and for Hong Kong to start on a high.
