Winning the toss, the Heat chose to bat first, looking to establish a strong score. They started with great energy; captain Charli Knott scored 26 runs off 16 balls, hitting five fours to get their innings moving quickly. Fellow opener Lucinda Bourke contributed with a quick 12 off 14 balls, and Sianna Ginger followed up with 13 runs off just 9 balls, including two boundaries.

Georgia Redmayne then steadied the innings in the middle order with a solid 27 runs off 25 balls, which included four fours. Nicola Hancock added a crucial late surge for the Heat, scoring 28 runs off 24 balls. Ultimately, they were bowled out for 128 runs in 18.2 overs.

For the Hurricanes, Callie Wilson shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 25 runs in 4 overs. Molly Strano was well supported by claiming 2 wickets for 15 runs in 3 overs. Lauren Smith had a commendable outing, taking 2 wickets for 16 runs in 3.2 overs. Hayley Silver-Holmes bowled 3 overs for 33 runs, securing 1 wicket but with a high economy rate.

As the Hurricanes began their batting chase, they faced an early setback when Ruth Johnston was dismissed for just 2 runs in the second over. However, a solid partnership formed between Nicola Carey and skipper Elyse Villani soon steadied their innings after the dismissal of Lizelle Lee (18).
