Watch Highlights: Ireland clinches historic ODI series win, beating Sri Lanka by 15 Runs

The Islanders are currently on tour in Ireland for a limited-overs series, which commenced on August 11 with a two-match T20I series, followed by three ODIs. The hosts were put into bat after Sri Lanka won the toss. The Irish side posted a competitive total of 255 and restricted Sri Lanka to 240, registering a 15-run win. With this victory in the second ODI, Ireland clinched the three-match series, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Highlights from the match:

1) Leah Paul – 81 (Ireland)

After an ordinary T20I series, Leah Paul finally found her touch in the ongoing limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, scoring an important 81 in the second ODI. She came into bat when the Irish side lost their skipper, Orla Prendergast, at a score of 77 for 3. Leah was involved in a 114-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Rebecca Stokell, which helped the hosts post a total of 255. Leah’s 81 off 101 deliveries included six boundaries, earning her the Player of the Match award for her top-class innings.

2) Kavisha Dilhari – 2/35 & 53 (Sri Lanka)

Kavisha delivered another all-round performance in the ongoing limited-overs series against Ireland. With the ball, the off spinner dismissed the Irish skipper, Orla Prendergast, for nine, and later in the innings, sent back Leah Paul, courtesy of a stumping, finishing with figures of 2/35 off her 9 overs. With the bat, Kavisha came in at number four and scored vital 53 runs. She was involved in a 126-run partnership for the third wicket with Harshita Samarawickrama, a stand that kept the visitors in the hunt before Kavisha was dismissed for 53.

3) Harshita Samarawickrama – 105 (Sri Lanka)

Harshita Samarawickrama smashed her maiden international century, scoring a stellar 105 in the 2nd ODI against Ireland. The left-handed batter continued her fine form in the ongoing series against Ireland, having scored two consecutive fifties in the T20I series. Harshita came in at number three and built a 126-run partnership for the third wicket with Kavisha Dilhari. Harshita’s 105 off 124 balls included 11 boundaries. Her knock kept the visitors’ hopes alive in the chase for 256, but those hopes faded after her dismissal.

4) Jane Maguire – 2/33 (Ireland)

The Irish pacer put on a magnificent display with the ball, taking two key wickets in the second ODI. Her first victim was the Sri Lankan skipper, Chamari Athapaththu, who was dismissed for 22. Later, she dismissed Anushka Sanjeewani for a three-ball duck. Jane finished with figures of 2/33, her best bowling figures in ODIs.
