Cricket West Indies (CWI) has revealed its 15-member squad for the highly anticipated white-ball series against South Africa Women, set to electrify the historic 3Ws Oval in Barbados from June 11 to 23.

The series will see the Maroon Warriors take on the Proteas in three fiercely contested ODIs, followed by three adrenaline-fueled T20 Internationals, with entry free for fans and live broadcasts via ESPN Caribbean.
The West Indies women’s team returns to familiar shores, determined to reignite their campaign after a challenging tour of England, where they were unable to notch a win.
Yet, glimmers of promise shone through, particularly from exciting newcomers Jahzara Claxton, who made history as the first St Kitts woman to play international cricket, and Realeanna Grimmond, who notched a memorable half-century on ODI debut. Inspirational captain Hayley Matthews led from the front, securing 177 runs and three wickets to be named T20I Player of the Series.
West Indies squad for South Africa series 2025:
Hayley Matthews (C), Shemaine Campbelle (VC), Aaliyah Alleyne, Jahzara Claxton, Afy Fletcher, Shabika Gajnabi, Jannillea Glasgow, Realeanna Grimmond, Chenille Henry, Zaida James, Qiana Joseph, Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Karishma Ramharack, Stafanie Taylor
Matthews will once again marshal the squad, ably assisted by vice-captain Shemaine Campbelle. The only change from the England series sees the return of seasoned all-rounder Chinelle Henry, whose energy and ability with both bat and ball will be vital. Cherry-Ann Fraser makes way as the team looks to balance experience with emerging talent.
The squad blends the established class of Stafanie Taylor and Afy Fletcher with the youthful exuberance of James and Munisar, promising an exciting series for cricket fans across the region.
South Africa’s women arrive in the Caribbean as a formidable opponent, ranked 5th in both formats, compared to the West Indies’ 9th in ODIs and 5th in T20Is. The Proteas’ well-drilled unit will provide a stern test, setting the stage for a fascinating contest as the Maroon Warriors seek to climb the rankings before a home crowd.
Adding to the excitement, the second T20I on June 22 will coincide with the prestigious CWI and WIPA Awards, celebrating the best in Caribbean cricket. With free admission and international broadcast coverage, the series offers a perfect showcase for the talent and passion within women’s cricket.
