The Indian women’s cricket team, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, is hosting South Africa for a multi-format series from June 16 to July 9. India currently leads the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) series 1-0. In the 2nd ODI, Smriti Mandhana not only registered her seventh ODI century, amassing 136 runs off 120 balls but also picked up her maiden wicket on the international stage.
Mandhana, who is in exceptional form, has scored back-to-back centuries and didn’t just stop there. Captain Kaur handed over the ball to Mandhana for the 15th over in the 2nd innings and she struck back with a wicket of Suné Luus 12(13), off her 2nd delivery itself. Luus played on a wide ball outside off, but only managed to get a feather on it, the edge carried to Richa Gosh behind the wicket who didn’t let it miss and caught it, handing Mandhana her maiden international wicket.
