Date and Day – 3 October 2019, Thursday.
Match 4 – India Women v/s South Africa Women. ( Rescheduled Game)
Time-7:00 PM IST.
Venue – Surat.
A game on a rest day as well, Indian women’s team will now play against the South Africa women’s team in a match on Thursday. The game on Thursday is a rescheduled game for the two games that were abandoned due to wet field courtesy of the rain gods that pelted down in Surat for the majority of last week.
With the forecast now clear, the organizers have managed to schedule a game on Thursday to compensate for the two lost games. Eventually making the series a four-game affair last of which would be played on Friday. Both the team will be rejuvenated by this decision as game time is what all players would love with World Cup just months away.
In the previous encounter, which was again a rain-marred affair, Indian women were put in to bat first, they scored 140 runs from their designated 17 overs. Shafali Verma scored a brisk 46 runs from 33 balls and made her first impression on the international circuit justifying her selection. Jemimah Rodrigues also scored 33 runs from 22 balls. In reply to India’s total of 140 South African teams could just manage 89 runs in their 17overs. They were again tied down by the Indian spinners who picked up 6 wickets of the 7 wickets that fell in the South African innings. Poonam Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for Indian team picking up 3 vital wickets to break down the backbone of the South African batting lineup.
Head to Head
The forecast seems to be good to allow a full game of cricket. The Indian team is likely to win the series and go 3-0 up. South African batswomen have failed to counter the Indian spinners and that has led to their downfall in the series.
