2nd T20I – Dominant show from Georgia Wareham seal the T20 series for the Southern Stars

Dominant bowling performance from Australian spinners especially leggie Georgia Wareham seal the series for the Southern Stars .

The match was scheduled during night time as both the teams were hoping for some practice under lights keeping the upcoming T20 World Cup in mind which will played in Caribbean from 9 Nov.

This time Australia decided to put the host to bat first and they came up with one change in their team Delissa Kimmince got the opportunity .

Megan Schutt bowled very tight first over to the in form Nahida Khan. However in the second over Captain Javeria Khan hit 2 boundaries to Elysse Perry taking 10 from it and once again it was young Sophie Molineux who got the breakthrough , a wild miss swing by Nahida. Young sensation Omaima Sohail was next on the crease . Both of them took 40 runs from next 37 balls and then Georgia Wareham break the partnership in the 9th over , she took back to back wickets dismissing Javeria and then got Bismah Maroof lbw.

While Omaima was playing her shots and on the other hand no one was able to give her the needed support , none reached the double digit mark and there was time when they didin’t score a run for 16 balls and got all out for 101.Both Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham picked three wickets each and Schutt got two.
Pakistan failed to capitalize on such a good start and It was only because of efforts of Omaima ‘s 43 runs off 38 balls ( 4 fours and a six) they managed 101.

Australia lost two in-form batswoman Alyssa Healy and Ashleigh Gardner who played brilliantly in last 2 matches. It was Beth Mooney’s sensible run a ball 29 and 14 from Captain Meg Lanning that put them back on the track. Pakistan bowled well in patches but most of the times their pitch map was all over and they were giving width and they got the punishment from the Ausie batters. However they got Mooney bowled and then Lanning on a Yorker but Villani and Elysse Perry made sure that the Southern Stars reached the target without any further casualty . They finished the game in the 17th over hitting two sixes in it and won the match by 6 wickets and sealed the series in the 2nd match itself.

Georgia Wareham was adjudged Player of Match for her 3 crucial wickets that she took in 2 overs and she came in to attack when Pakistan were having a good partnership.

Sophie Molineux once again proved her worth with her tight bowling and she also picked 3 wickets .

It was good that the Australia’s middle order was tested today and hence they will not be so worried about it in the T20 World Cup. While Pakistan’s batting worries continued as 9 of their players failed to reach double digits and they need get over it as soon as possible.

Today Both teams gave chances to few players from their bench but none of them made serious impact on the match . ( Pakistan got Natalia Pervaiz and Bismah Mahroof in the playing 11 and Australia got Kimmince who took 1 wicket but leaked too many runs ) .

So the last match of the tour will be played on Monday after which they will fly to Caribbean for the World Cup for which we all are excited .
