Players to watch out:
Kiran Navgire
The 29-year-old batter has established herself as a hard-hitter in domestic cricket. Kiran’s fast-tracked national call-up didn’t turn fruitful, but she overcame the rough patch with a few scores in the Women’s Premier League and a few excellent scores in the warm-up matches, in the lead-up to the domestic season. However, she hasn’t yet translated the same form into the ongoing competition, accumulating 76 runs from 4 games, so far.
Tejal Hasabnis
The 26-year-old all-rounder has kicked off her ’23-24 domestic season with a few notable performances. Following a quiet start to her campaign with scores of 6 and 10, Tejal quickly bounced back with a 36-ball 52 and followed up with a run-a-ball 34. Tejal is a vital cog in Maharashtra’s XI, and the team will want her to capitalize on this momentum.
Riya Chaudhari
The 21-year-old batter has had a decent start to her domestic cricket campaign, chipping in with a few runs consistently. Riya kicked off with a 26-ball 28 and registered scores of 15 and 12 in the following couple of games. It’ll be expected of Riya to convert these starts into big scores and contribute significantly to the side’s success.
Prakashika Naik
The 25-year-old has emerged as the leading wicket-taker for the side with 5 wickets to her name from 3 games. Prakashika has looked in brilliant form right from game 1 and has only gotten better as the season progresses. Her figures thus far read 1/16, 2/16, and 3/9, and the team will hope for her to continue delivering the goods.
Pitch:
The 22 yards at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, provides a balanced playing surface, one that caters to both batters and bowlers. Although it favors the batters, the average score remains in the 100s, with assistance available for spinners to exploit.
Weather:
Cuttack promises ideal conditions for a game of cricket with a partly cloudy overhead and a very low chance of rain. The temperature is expected to hover around 29°C with light winds and a humidity level of 63%.
