The Blaze and Southern Vipers will go head-to-head in match no. 29 of the ongoing 2024 edition of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy (RHFT). The game will be played at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, on the 5th of July 2024, at 3:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Squads:
The Blaze – Kirstie Gordon (C), Ella Claridge, Marie Kelly, Sarah Bryce, Beth Harmer, Josie Groves, Sarah Glenn, Grace Ballinger, Teresa Graves, Sophie Munro, Lucy Higham, Tammy Beaumont, Scarlett Hughes, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Michael Kirk, Georgie Boyce, Cassidy McCarthy, Kathryn Bryce, Heather Graham*
Southern Vipers – Georgia Adams (C), Georgia Elwiss, Freya Davies, Maia Bouchier, Megan Sturge, Mary Taylor, Alice Monaghan, Rhianna Southby, Abi Norgrove, Lauren Bell, Danni Wyatt, Freya Kemp, Linsey Smith, Emily Windsor, Ava Lee, Charlie Dean, Charlotte Taylor, Ella McCaughan, Finty Trussler, Nancy Harman, Charli Knott*
Players to watch out for:
Tammy Beaumont
The 33-year-old opening-batter, in the first leg of the RHFT games, registered scores of 41 and 25 from her couple of outings, and while she didn’t score big runs in the recently concluded T20 season, in national colors she registered scores of 76* and 28 against New Zealand only recently. Tammy has managed good scores but lacked consistency this summer and will be backed to find her footing over the next few games.
Kathryn Bryce
The 26-year-old all-rounder didn’t feature in the first-leg RHFT fixtures, and in her T20 campaign, she amassed 478 runs at a strike rate of 120.10 and bagged 10 wickets at an economy rate of 7.05 from 12 outings. Carrying her form into the second leg of RHFT fixtures, Kathryn registered figures of 30 and 1/17 in her first One Dayer this season. Given her form, she can be counted on for the goods.
Georgia Adams
The 30-year-old all-rounder has claimed 10 wickets and accumulated 214 runs from 6 outings in this RHFT season. Posting 213 runs and striking 12 wickets from 10 T20 games, Georgie continued her decent form. While she has been in outstanding form with the ball, she hasn’t scored big runs this season and hopefully steps up her efforts with the bat, leading the scoring.
Freya Davies
The 28-year-old pacer secured 3 wickets from 4 outings in the 1st leg of RHFT fixtures, and carrying her momentum into the T20 season, she produced 12 wickets from 10 T20s, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.88. On her RHFT return, Freya returned figures of 1/37 and will be relied upon for breakthroughs, while she can also be handy with the bat, delivering cameos on a few occasions.
Pitch:
With an average score in the 220s, the 22 yards at Queen’s Park make up a well-balanced center wicket that offers a fair contest between bat and ball. However, bowlers, particularly pacers, have the upper hand on this wicket.
Weather:
With light winds, humidity at 63%, and the temperature expected to be around 17°C, the conditions are favorable with no rain on the radar. The overhead will be bright and clear, promising a complete game of cricket.
Fantasy playing XI:
Sarah Bryce, Rhianna Southby, Tammy Beaumont, Kathryn Bryce, Charli Knott, Georgia Adams, Linsey Smith, Kirstie Gordon, Lucy Higham, Freya Davies, Mary Taylor
