Bangladesh Women U19 faced an early setback when Chamodi Herath dismissed Achena Jannat Emanta for a duck, leaving the side at 1/1. Nishita Akter Nishi joined Mymuna Naher Shornamoni at the crease, but the partnership did not last long. Nishita scored two runs before Danodhya Sewmini removed her, reducing Bangladesh to 4/2. Mymuna attempted to rebuild the innings alongside Shirina Khatun, but Sri Lanka continued to apply pressure. Shirina scored six runs before being run out by Sewmini, while Sadia Islam was dismissed for a duck, trapped leg-before-wicket by the same bowler. Bangladesh slipped to 11/4, with Sewmini making an immediate impact through her disciplined bowling.

Yeshali Jithara added to Bangladesh’s difficulties by dismissing Fariya Yasmin for a duck, leaving the team struggling at 12/5. With wickets falling regularly, Bangladesh needed a partnership to stabilise the innings. Sadia Akter joined Mymuna Naher Shornamoni, and the pair showed greater resistance against the Sri Lankan attack. Mymuna contributed 23 runs from 26 balls, including two boundaries, while Sadia scored 17 from 26 deliveries. Their sixth-wicket partnership added 30 runs, taking Bangladesh from 12/5 to 42/6 and providing the innings with some much-needed stability.

However, Limansa Thilakarathne broke the partnership by dismissing Sadia Akter, who was caught by Vimoksha Balasuriya. Limansa then removed Farjana Easmin for two, leaving Bangladesh at 45/7. The lower order struggled to build on the recovery, although Tithi Das Aporna attempted to accelerate the scoring with five runs from 12 balls, including two boundaries and two sixes. Chamudi Praboda dismissed Tithi leg-before-wicket, while Limansa claimed her third wicket by removing Afrin Mim, who scored one run. Jannatul Ferdousi remained unbeaten on two, but Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 58 in 17.3 overs.

Limansa was Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker, finishing with impressive figures of 3/13 from four overs. Danodhya Sewmini claimed 2/7 in three overs, including a maiden, while Chamodi Herath returned 1/10 in two overs. Yeshali Jithara took 1/6 from two overs, Chamudi Praboda finished with 1/9 in 3.3 overs, and Sanuki Pathirage claimed 1/13 in three overs. The coordinated bowling performance ensured that Bangladesh never gained enough momentum to post a challenging total. Despite the resistance offered by Mymuna and Sadia, the frequent loss of wickets proved costly for the Bangladesh Women U19 team.

Chasing 59 runs for victory, Sri Lanka Women U19 began their innings positively through Vimoksha Balasuriya and Umayangana Peiris. Vimoksha played an attacking knock, scoring 22 runs from 18 balls, including three boundaries, at a strike rate of 122.22. Umayangana supported her with nine runs from 17 deliveries, including one boundary. The opening partnership gave Sri Lanka a steady start before Farjana Easmin dismissed Umayangana, providing Bangladesh with their first breakthrough. Farjana finished with figures of 1/11 from two overs, giving her team a brief opportunity to put pressure on the chasing side.

Vimoksha continued to score confidently alongside Nethmi Upeksha, and their partnership brought Sri Lanka closer to the target. However, Tithi Das Aporna dismissed Vimoksha for 22, leaving Sri Lanka at 39/2. Tithi finished with figures of 1/14 in two overs, making her Bangladesh’s other successful bowler. Despite losing two wickets, Sri Lanka remained firmly in control, with only 20 runs required for victory.

Nethmi Upeksha and Limansa Thilakarathne then combined to finish the chase without further trouble. Nethmi remained unbeaten on 17 from 22 balls, including one boundary, while Limansa contributed an unbeaten 10 from just eight deliveries, also hitting one boundary. Their unbroken 20-run partnership for the third wicket ensured that Sri Lanka reached 59/2 in 10.4 overs, winning the match by eight wickets.

Bangladesh’s remaining bowlers were unable to create additional breakthroughs during the chase. Nishita Akter Nishi conceded 11 runs in three overs, Afrin Mim gave away 11 runs in two overs, Jannatul Ferdousi conceded six runs in one over, and Mymuna Naher Shornamoni gave away six runs in 0.4 overs, including one no-ball. Although Farjana Easmin and Tithi Das Aporna picked up one wicket each, Bangladesh could not defend their low total against Sri Lanka’s composed batting approach.

The victory highlighted Sri Lanka Women U19’s bowling discipline, effective partnerships and ability to complete a chase without unnecessary pressure. Limansa Thilakarathne’s three-wicket haul and unbeaten 10-run contribution made her a standout performer, while Nethmi Upeksha played an important role in guiding the team towards victory. For Bangladesh Women U19, Mymuna Naher Shornamoni’s 23 and Sadia Akter’s 17 were the main batting contributions, but the lack of support from the remaining batters proved decisive.
