Krisheta Sarvanakumar’s all-round effort in vain as Oman seal 3-0 Series Victory against Qatar

Oman Women once again showed their domination on the Qatar tour, they secured a comfortable 41-run win in the third T20 and sealed the five match t20 series 3-0, and two games are still to play. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Oman delivered another calm, well-structured performance that left Qatar chasing the game from start to finish.

The innings was built around a composed knock from Jayadhanhya Gunasekar, who set the tone at the top of the order. Her 58 off 48, including six boundary balls, was well calculated, and it was exactly what Oman needed at that moment. While wickets fell at the other end, Gunasekar stood strongly with calm and composure, rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Oman suffered a few heartbreaks in the middle overs. Nitya Joshi, Fiza Javed, and skipper Priyanka Mendonca departed without making big contributions, and for a brief period, Qatar’s bowling attack managed to apply some pressure on Oman. But Oman responded calmly, refusing to let the innings drift.

The late surge came through Sameera Khan, who played a crucial unbeaten knock of 41 from just 29 balls. Her positive intent in the final overs lifted Oman past the 150 mark, while Cynthia Saldanha stayed with her to ensure there were no further setbacks. Those closing overs proved vital; Qatar conceded 17 extras, which only added to their challenge.

Qatar’s bowlers had their moments, with Krisheta Sarvanakumar standing out with figures of 3 for 20. Khadija Imtiaz also chipped in with two wickets, but overall Oman’s batting depth and composure challenged Qatar bowlers.

In reply, while chasing 156, Qatar never found their rhythm. The early loss of Rizpha Bano Emmanuel put them on the back foot, and Oman’s bowlers tightened the screws straight away. Gertrude Chandiru and Krisheta Sarvanakumar tried to rebuild, with Chandiru 26 off 33 balls and Sarvanakumar leading the resistance through a patient 47 off 46 balls.

Aysha added some spark with 27, but the required rate kept climbing as Oman maintained discipline and energy in the field. Boundaries were hard to come by, and every attempt to accelerate brought pressure.

Oman’s bowling effort was a collective one. Priyanka Mendonca and Sushanthika Sathiya were economical and picked up key wickets, while Jayadhanhya Gunasekar and Fiza Javed also made timely breakthroughs. With a disciplined bowling attack Onam ensured Qatar never threatened to take the game away.

Qatar’s innings ended at 114 for 5, falling 41 runs short. The result summed up the series so far, Oman being sharper, calmer, and more clinical in all departments.

With the series already secured at 3-0, Oman Women now carry confidence and momentum into the remaining matches, and Qatar will be aiming to bounce back.
