Fresh off their maiden T20 World Cup win, New Zealand arrived in India for a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series in Ahmedabad. With India claiming a convincing victory in the series opener and New Zealand responding with a clinical win in the second ODI, the series remains evenly poised.
Ahead of the decider, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Shreyanka Patil was unavailable for selection due to shin splints and is currently under the care of the BCCI medical team.
The BCCI posted, “Ms Shreyanka Patil was unavailable for selection in the Third ODI due to shin splints. The BCCI Medical Team will closely monitor her progress.”
Notably, Shreyanka hasn’t featured in any ODIs in this series. Her last appearance was during India’s World Cup campaign in the United Arab Emirates earlier this month.
In her milestone 150th ODI, New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bat. A win here would mark New Zealand’s third consecutive ODI series win against India, while also earning them two crucial points to boost their rank in the ICC Women’s Championship (2022/23-25).
While cricket remains a prominent passion for New Zealand, the country’s growing interest in other competitive domains, such as gaming, has also been noteworthy. Highroller real money casino in New Zealand has emerged as a favorite among enthusiasts, offering thrilling experiences akin to the excitement of live sports. The adrenaline and stakes involved resonate with the spirit of cricket fans and players alike, bridging the worlds of sports and gaming.
Although India, as hosts, have already qualified for the 2025 World Cup and the ICC Championship standings carry less weight, they will be eager for a series win to put behind the disappointments of their early T20 World Cup exit, a loss in the Asia Cup Final, and a home ODI series defeat to Australia late last year.
