India needed 260 to clinch the three-match ODI series
Chasing a target of 260, India got off to a poor start as they lost their top three inside the by the end of five overs. Jemimah Rodrigues joined skipper Harmanpreet Kaur at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 38-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Skipper Sophie Devine picked up the wicket of Jemimah Rodrigues to provide the 4th breakthrough for New Zealand.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 5th breakthrough for New Zealand. Deepti Sharma joined Tejal Hasabnis at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 23-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side to the 100-run mark. India lost a couple of wickets in quick succession to leave the home side in big trouble, falling a little too far behind in the run chase.

Radha Yadav and Saima Thakor record highest 9th-wicket partnership for India
Saima Thakor joined Radha Yadav at the crease and the duo displayed remarkable resilience and character to form a much-needed 70-run partnership for the 9th wicket to take their side closer to the 200-run mark. It is also the highest 9th wicket partnership for India, surpassing (43*) between Nooshin Al Khadeer and Jhulan Goswami Vs New Zealand in 2007. It is also the overall 3rd highest 9th-wicket partnership in the Women’s ODIs.

Jess Kerr picked up the wicket of Saima Thakor to provide the much-needed 9th breakthrough for New Zealand. India was eventually bundled out for 183, as a result, falling short of the target by 76 runs, with 17 balls to spare.
