England A Women wrapped up their home series in style, defeating New Zealand A Women by a commanding margin in the third and final T20, sealing a 2-1 in the T20 leg of the tour.
Batting first, New Zealand A Women posted a competitive total of 144 in 19.4 overs, anchored by captain Isabella Gaze, who scored a brisk 20 off 14 after the early dismissal of Georgia Plimmer (13). The innings gained momentum through a solid middle-order partnership between Jess Watkin (35 off 30) and Flora Devonshire (35 off 31).
However, the momentum was short-lived as the lower and middle order collapsed, with several batters falling for single-digit scores. Alexa Stonehouse was the standout performer with the ball for England A, claiming 4/28 in her 4 overs, while Ryana MacDonald-Gay supported well with 2/25 in 3.5 overs.
In response, England A faced early pressure during the chase, losing openers Davina Perrin (0) and skipper Grace Scrivens (7) cheaply. However, Seren Smale (47 off 43) and Jodi Grewcock (60 off 37) steadied the innings with a crucial 47-run partnership, followed by a composed 56-run stand between Grewcock and Bess Heath (18*).
Grewcock’s aggressive stroke play under pressure was pivotal, guiding England A to 145/4 in 19.4 overs, sealing a six-wicket win. For New Zealand A, Jess Watkin impressed with the ball, returning a tidy 1/16 in 4 overs, but it wasn’t enough to defend the total.
The victory underlined England A’s complete control over the T20 series. Their depth, intent and execution across all departments proved too much for the touring side.
This match also marked the end of New Zealand A’s month-long tour of England, which included three One Dayers and three T20s. England A Women were dominant from the start, sweeping the series 3-0 and clinching victory in the T20s 2-1. New Zealand A’s only victory came in the second T20, but they were unable to build momentum from that success to win the T20 series.
