Match 1 Summary : KSL 2019 – Wyatt and Beaumont shines as Southern Vipers defeat Lancashire Thunders by 34 Runs

The Southern Vipers started their season with victory, defeating Lancashire Thunder by 34 runs in Liverpool on tuesday.

Tammy Beaumont skipper of Southern Vipers after winning the toss opted to bat. The experienced duo of Suzie Bates and Danielle Wyatt started the Innings for Vipers. But, it was not a great start as the veteran Bates was out for 1.

Next, the skipper Beaumont joined Wyatt in the middle. The England duo built a partnership of 100. Both Wyatt and Beaumont scored half Centuries 54 and 53 respectively. 

After their departure, Windies skipper Stafanie Taylor played a brilliant cameo of 40 in 25 balls which helped Vipers to reach 166 in 20 overs. Alex Hartley was the pick of the bowlers and Sophie Ecclestone bowled an economic spell.

Georgia Boyce and Sune Luus started the Innings for Thunders. Sadly, Luus had to depart early on 1. Australian all-rounder McGrath was the next to come in middle , who had a good partnership of 57 with Boyce. Experienced all-rounder Stafanie Taylor broke the partnership by getting the wicket of Boyce on 43. 

Later, surprisingly part time bowler Danielle Wyatt who had a great day with bat, performed well with the bowl too. She got the two important wickets of Thunder that is of McGrath and Harmanpreet Kaur which turned the game in favour of Vipers.

Left arm quickie Tash Farrant cleaned up the other important wickets, she ended up with 3fer. Lauren Bell contributed with 2 wickets.
In the end Lancashire Thunder were short by 34 runs.

Both sides will be in action on Thursday. Vipers will be playing Lightning and Thunders will be playing champions Surrey Stars.
