Laura Agatha’s Blitz Helps All-Round Brazil Women Dominate Mozambique with 9-Wicket Win

Brazil Women delivered a commanding all-round performance to outclass Mozambique Women in the 8th match of the Kalahari Women’s T20I Tournament 2026, chasing down the target with remarkable ease and showcasing their growing dominance in associate women’s cricket. The game unfolded as a one-sided contest, but not without moments where Mozambique showed glimpses of resistance.

Mozambique Women’s innings never quite found the momentum they would have hoped for after being put into bat. The innings got off to a shaky start as Palmira Cuinica was dismissed early at 7/1 in 2.4 overs, followed soon after by Amelia Mundundo at 12/2 in 3.5 overs. Olga Mondlane also fell cheaply, leaving the side reeling at 12/3 in 4.4 overs. The early breakthroughs were engineered brilliantly by Brazil’s disciplined bowling attack, with Lara Moisés, Marianne Artur, and Lindsay Boas striking crucial blows to keep the pressure firmly on.

Despite the top-order collapse, Wisley Bucane emerged as the lone warrior for Mozambique. Walking in under pressure, she stitched small but important partnerships to steady the innings. Alongside Cristina Magaia, she added a brief stand before Magaia departed at 33/4 in 7.6 overs. Bucane then found limited support from Isabel Chuma and Rosalia Haihong, but wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals, with the score moving to 53/7 by the 12.1-over mark.

Bucane’s fighting knock of 32 off 27 balls, laced with four boundaries, was the highlight of the innings. However, once she was dismissed at 74/8 in 16.2 overs, Mozambique’s hopes of a late flourish diminished. Contributions from Regina Mazumba (10* off 16) and a few extras pushed the total to 80 in 17.2 overs. Brazil’s bowling unit was clinical throughout, with Carolina Nascimento (2 wickets), Roberta Avery (2 wickets), and Lara Moisés (2 wickets) leading the charge. Lindsay Boas, Marianne Artur, and Nicole Monteiro chipped in with a wicket each, ensuring a complete team effort.

Chasing a modest target, Brazil Women approached the innings with confidence and intent. The opening pair of Lindsay Boas and Laura Agatha laid a solid foundation, rotating strike efficiently while punishing loose deliveries. Their partnership quickly took the game away from Mozambique, as they raced past the powerplay without significant trouble.

Laura Agatha was particularly aggressive, smashing 43 off just 24 balls, including six boundaries and a six, before falling at 76/1 in 6.3 overs. Her attacking approach ensured that the required run rate never became an issue. Lindsay Boas, on the other hand, anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 24 off 18 balls, guiding her team towards the finish line with calm assurance.

After Agatha’s dismissal, Roberta Avery joined Boas, and the duo comfortably completed the chase in just 7.3 overs, finishing at 81/1 with 75 balls to spare. The unbeaten partnership ensured there were no further hiccups, sealing a dominant 9-wicket victory for Brazil Women.

Mozambique’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Angelica Salomao conceding 33 runs in her 3 overs, while Palmira Cuinica also proved expensive. Regina Mazumba picked up the lone wicket, but the lack of breakthroughs hurt their chances significantly.

With impactful performances from Lindsay Boas, who was rightly named Player of the Match for her all-round contribution of 24* and 1 wicket, and strong support from the entire unit, Brazil Women continue to establish themselves as a formidable side in women’s T20 international cricket.
