West Indies squad for 1st and 2nd ODI against Ireland announced

The West Indies women’s national cricket team is all set to clash with Ireland Women in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series. Scheduled to kick off on Monday, June 26, this series holds great significance as it is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, which plays a crucial role in determining qualification for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India in 2025.

The West Indies Women’s squad, led by the talented all-rounder Hayley Matthews, has announced their 18-member squad for the series. The team has a strong lineup, showcasing the skills and experience of players like Stafanie Taylor, Shemaine Campbelle, and Chinelle Henry. Meanwhile, Ireland Women’s national cricket team has also named their 15-women squad, with Laura Delany leading the charge.

In the ODI format, the West Indies Women have had a dominant run against Ireland Women. Out of the eight matches played between the two teams, the Windies have emerged victorious in seven encounters, leaving Ireland with just one win.

All three matches of the ODI series will be played at the prestigious Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Saint Lucia. This renowned stadium has witnessed numerous thrilling cricket battles.

The West Indies Women’s provisional squad for the ODIs includes some exciting new talent. Ashmini Munisar, a right-arm off-spinner, and Shunelle Sawh, a talented wicketkeeper-batter, have been named in the squad for the first time.
