Group B Round 1 Summary – Women’s Senior T20 Trophy – Railways, Vidarbha and Haryana win

The first round of Group B games took place on 15th October. Total 3 games were played between 3 teams – Haryana and Odisha, Sikkim and Vidarbha, J & K and Railways.

Match 1: Haryana vs Odisha

Venue: VCA KALAMNA, Nagpur

Haryana made an enormous score of 169 runs losing 2 wickets. Young Shafali Verma, who recently made her debut in T20I for the senior women’s team, scored one of the best knocks of the tournament. She smashed 92 in only 53 balls, hitting 13 fours and 3 sixes. Sonia Mahender Khatri 30(36) and captain Sheetal Om Prakash Rana 33(19) also contributed to the scoreboard.

Odisha started their chase with captain Madhusmita Behera falling cheaply in the second over. But they gave a good fight as Pragyan Mohanty scored 47 runs in 30 balls. In the end, they could only score 146/6.

Result: Haryana won by 23 runs.

Match 2: Sikkim vs Vidarbha

Venue: VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, Nagpur

Vidarbha scored 138/7 in their allotted 20 overs. It was a combined effort from the batters with Nupur Kohale remaining unbeaten on 25(18) and Latika Inamdar scoring 24 runs from 32 balls. Sikkim’s Ananya Upendran was the highest wicket-taker of the side, taking 3 wickets.

Sikkim displayed a poor show in the second innings. They were bundled out for mere 21 runs in less than 16 overs. The top performer was Vidarbha’s Nupur Kohale again, taking 3 wickets in only 1.1 overs. She gave 0 runs and also took 2 wickets in consecutive balls.

Result: Vidarbha won by 117 runs.

Match 3: Jammu & Kashmir vs Railways

Venue: VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, Nagpur

Jammu & Kashmir scored 56 runs and lost 8 wickets in 20 overs. None of the batters could score more than Rubia Sheikh’s 12.

In reply, the Railways displayed a dominating performance. They chased down the score in 6.2 overs, without losing any wicket. Openers Priyanka Prankrishna Bala 24(23) and Shweta Rohidas 26(16) saw them through.

Result: Railways won by 10 wickets.
