USA Women Win ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy 2026 as Final Game Washed Out

The Aditiba Chudasama-led USA’s final fixture of the tournament was washed out against Rwanda on 1st May 2026 (Friday).

The USA won the toss and opted to bat first, and were in trouble at 62/4 in the 16th over of the innings, when the rains arrived, and the persistent nature of the rains ensured that the game had to be eventually called off. Isani Vaghela (29 off 45 balls) and Chetna Pagydyala (17 off 25 balls) top-scored with the bat for their side. Rosine Irera (4-0-16-3) and skipper Marie Bimenyimana (3-1-11-1) were the standout performers with the ball for Rwanda.

Despite the game being washed out, the Aditiba Chudasama-led USA finished at the top of the points table with 13 points from 8 games, including 6 victories, a solitary defeat against Rwanda and a washed-out game against the same opponent. As a result of their top-of-the-table finish, the USA were crowned as the inaugural champions of the ICC Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy from 18th April to 1st May 2026.

Nepal, led by skipper Indu Barma, defeated Italy, led by skipper Emilia Bartram, by 8 wickets in the 2nd game of the day. However, that win for Nepal, who finished their campaign with 10 points from 8 games, including five wins and three defeats in their campaign in the tournament.

Two of the top three run-getters were from the USA, with Chetna Pagydyala topping the charts with 261 runs at a strike rate of 97.75 and an average of 37.28 in eight innings, which included a couple of half-centuries to her name. Isani Vaghela finished 3rd on the list with 196 runs at a strike rate of 100.51 and an average of 32.66 in eight innings, forming the core of their batting lineup throughout the tournament.

As far as the bowling department is concerned, Sainavi Kambalapalli and Maahi Madhavan ended their campaign as the joint highest wicket-takers for the USA, with 10 wickets in 7 innings each, with Kambalapalli averaging 9.60 and an economy of 3.55, while Madhavan averaged 10.10 with an economy of 5.31, with the pair holding the 3rd slot in the tournament charts. Nepal’s Kabita Kunwar ended as the joint highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets at an average of 7 and an economy of 3.98 in 8 innings, which included a five-wicket haul in 8 games, alongside Vanuatu’s Vanessa Vira.

The USA truly dominated each and every opposition except for Rwanda in each and every department, sealing emphatic victories and stamping their mark on the inaugural edition of the tournament
