The Netherlands Women produced a disciplined all-round performance to secure a crucial victory over Thailand Women in the 20th match of Group B at Mulapani, Kathmandu, in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026. The contest unfolded as a gripping, low-scoring encounter, with both teams experiencing early setbacks before individual performances shaped the match narrative.

The Netherlands Women had a shaky start after being put in to bat, losing Phebe Molkenboer for a golden duck off the second ball of the innings, caught by Nannapat Koncharoenakai off Phannita Maya. Heather Siegers also failed to provide momentum, departing for 2 off 7 balls, leaving the Dutch side reeling at 2 for 19. Captain Babette de Leede then took charge, anchoring the innings with a composed 47 off 47 deliveries, striking 7 boundaries in a captain’s knock that held the innings together.
However, Sterre Kalis fell for a five-ball duck, adding to the top-order struggles. A crucial middle-order stand between Robine Rijke (15 off 16) and Frederique Overdijk (12 off 13) steadied the innings, helping the Netherlands recover from 41 for 4. Rijke looked fluent with three boundaries before being trapped lbw by Onnicha Kamchomphu, while Overdijk was dismissed lbw by Sunida Chaturongrattana. Sanya Khurana (3 off 7) and Caroline de Lange (0 off 2) departed in quick succession, leaving the Dutch innings wobbling once again.
Despite the wickets tumbling, de Leede continued to anchor the innings before being run out for 47 in the 18th over, ending a vital innings. The late flourish came from Iris Zwilling (17* off 16) and Silver Siegers (8* off 6), whose unbeaten partnership pushed the Netherlands to 107 for 8 in 20 overs.
Thailand’s bowling unit shared the spoils, with Sunida Chaturongrattana leading the attack with 3/24, while Phannita Maya (2/22) and Thipatcha Putthawong (1/21) picked up key wickets. Onnicha Kamchomphu chipped in with one wicket, while Suleeporn Laomi bowled an economical spell.
In reply, Thailand Women’s chase began on a disastrous note as Aphisara Suwanchonrathi was bowled for a three-ball duck by Iris Zwilling. Another early blow followed when Nannapat Koncharoenakai fell for 0 off 3 balls, caught off Zwilling again, leaving Thailand struggling at 2 for 0 inside the first over. Nattakan Chantham (26 off 24 balls) and captain Naruemol Chaiwai (33 off 43) then stitched together a stabilising partnership, rebuilding the innings with cautious aggression and rotating the strike effectively.
Chantham struck five boundaries before being dismissed by Isabel van der Woning, while Chaiwai anchored the innings with a patient knock. Thailand continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, with Chanida Sutthiruang (1 off 11) and Suwanan Khiato (1 off 2) departing cheaply. Phannita Maya (2 off 5) and Suleeporn Laomi (13 off 16) added some resistance, while Onnicha Kamchomphu (10 off 9) provided late impetus. However, van der Woning struck repeatedly, removing key batters, and Thailand’s innings lost momentum.
Sunida Chaturongrattana added a brief cameo of 2 off 2 balls, while Thipatcha Putthawong remained unbeaten on 1. Thailand eventually finished on 90 in 20 overs, falling short by 17 runs.
The Netherlands bowling attack was led brilliantly by Player of the Match Isabel van der Woning, who returned figures of 4/14, dismantling Thailand’s middle and lower order. Iris Zwilling (3/9) provided early breakthroughs, while Heather Siegers (2/14) bowled a disciplined spell. Silver Siegers, Frederique Overdijk, and Caroline de Lange bowled supporting spells to maintain pressure throughout the innings.
The Netherlands Women showcased composure with the bat and clinical efficiency with the ball, earning a vital win in the Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier and strengthening their position in Group B.
