Bharti Fulmali’s journey to the Indian team has been built on persistence, reinvention and powerful finishing ability. Known for her aggressive strokeplay, Fulmali first entered the national setup in 2019, making two T20I appearances against England. However, opportunities were limited, and she spent several years outside the international picture.
Rather than fading away, Fulmali rebuilt her game in domestic cricket. She transformed herself into a specialist finisher, improving her boundary-hitting and ability to close innings strongly. Despite strong domestic performances, she faced disappointment when she went unsold in the first two Women’s Premier League auctions.
Her breakthrough came unexpectedly during WPL 2024 when Gujarat Giants signed her as an injury replacement after Harleen Deol was ruled out. Fulmali immediately made an impression, scoring a quick 21 off 13 balls on debut for the franchise and later a fighting 42 off 33 deliveries. Gujarat Giants retained faith in her, and Fulmali worked extensively on improving her strike rate against pace bowling and fielding standards.
That work paid off during subsequent WPL seasons. Gujarat Giants continued backing her, even matching bids during the WPL 2026 auction process to retain her. Fulmali rewarded that trust with impactful cameos, including unbeaten knocks of 36 off 15 balls and 39 off 20 deliveries, further cementing her role as a lower-order power-hitter.
Bharti Fulmali’s International Career
After more than seven years away from India colours, Fulmali earned a recall for India’s multi-format tour of Australia in early 2026 following strong domestic numbers and impactful WPL performances. She later made her return during the South Africa series in April 2026, scoring 40 runs against South Africa in Benoni, showing immediate signs of confidence at international level.
Her comeback also earned her a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad, marking a remarkable turnaround after years in the domestic circuit. So far in T20 Internationals, Fulmali has scored 65 runs in five matches, while in franchise cricket she has impressed significantly for Gujarat Giants. Across 18 WPL matches, she has scored 316 runs at an average of 31.60 and an outstanding strike rate of 149.76, including one half-century, 30 fours, and 16 sixes, highlighting her value as a finishing option capable of changing games quickly.
