Izzy Sharp is one of the young players in New Zealand women’s cricket and is known for her positive batting and wicketkeeping. Even at a young age, she has shown confidence while playing against strong teams and has impressed with her performances.
Sharp was born in Timaru and played different sports while growing up before fully choosing cricket. She later joined Canterbury’s domestic team and slowly worked her way into the New Zealand side with steady performances. She also led New Zealand at the 2023 ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup, which was a big moment early in her career.
Izzy Sharp T20I Career
Sharp made her WT20I debut for New Zealand against Sri Lanka in March 2025. Since then, she has continued learning at the international level and has looked comfortable in the team.
In 12 WT20I matches, Sharp has scored 131 runs at an average of 43.66 and a strike rate of 128.43. Her highest score is 29. Even though she is still new to international cricket, she has shown that she can score quickly and stay calm in pressure moments. Domestic T20 Career
Sharp plays domestic cricket for Canterbury Women and has gained good experience in New Zealand’s local tournaments. She made her List A debut during the 2021-22 season and played her first T20 match in the 2022-23 Super Smash.
In domestic T20 cricket, Sharp has played 32 matches and scored 320 runs, including one half-century. Her highest score is 52. She has also taken 7 catches in domestic T20 cricket.
Before joining the senior New Zealand team, Sharp also played for New Zealand Under-19s and New Zealand A. Her good performances in domestic cricket and junior tournaments helped her earn her first international call-up in 2025.

Sharp has shown good form before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. During New Zealand’s recent tour of England, she played an unbeaten innings of 26 in a WT20I match at Derby. She also scored 22 runs in a practice match against the ECB Women XI before the series. At just 21 years old, Sharp is still at the start of her international career.
