Match 1 – ICC Women’s World T20 Warmups 2018 – Pakistan vs South Africa Women

With the 1st practice match played yesterday the World Cup has finally begun. Many speculations are being made about who will win the world cup and a lot of that prediction depends on how these teams perform in practice matches.

Yesterday two matches were scheduled one between Pakistan vs South Africa and the other between Australia and England. The second match between Australia and England was abandon due to rain.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat. Nahida (27) and Ayesha Zafar (46) provided the required start to their innings by a partnership of 73 runs. After just scoring a rum Javeria Khan lost her wicket to Sekhukhune. Although Omaima Sohail scored 30 runs for someone who comes to bat on 3rd number and continued the momentum. Aliya Riaz and Sana Mir remained not out by scoring 27 runs and 11 runs respectively. Sune Luus remained the most successful bowler by picking 2 important wickets, both the opener, with an economy rate of 6.2.

While chasing the total of 162 runs South African women lost by 90 runs assignment the only 2 batswoman who contributed were Kapp (29 runs) and Sune Luus (23 runs) others either got out without opening their account or at a single digit score. Anam Amin, Sana Mir and Nida Dir took 2 wickets each and Aliya Riaz and Nashra Sandhu took one wicket each. Aiman Anwer was the only bowler who went wicket less. The best performance from bat came through Ayesha Zafar, 46 runs, just missed her half century and from the bowl through Anam Amin as she took 2 wickets in 3 overs with an economy of 3.7.
Pakistan has made a strong start in the tournament underestimating them would be a mistake.
