Poor batting, resulting in low totals, has come to haunt both Argentina and Brazil in the tournament. The two teams have had undesired campaigns so far, with both suffering defeats in their respective couple of outings.

Squads:

Argentina – Alison Stocks (C), Veronica Vasquez (VC), Tamara Basile, Maria Castiñeiras, Julieta Cullen, Alina Emch, Albertina Galan, Catalina Greloni, Malena Lollo (WK), Mariana Martinez, Naara Patron Fuenteso (WK), Alison Prince, Constanza Sosa, Lucia Taylor

Brazil – Roberta Moretti Avery (C), Lindsay Vilas Boas (VC), Laura Agatha, Marianne Artur, Laura Cardoso, Renata de Sousa, Mayara dos Santos (WK), Monnike Machado (WK), Evelyn Muller, Nicole Monteiro, Carolina Nascimento, Maria Ribeiro, Ana Sabino, Maria Silva

Players to watch out:

Veronica Vasquez

The 27-year-old keeper-batter, with 20 Twenty20 International (T20I) experience, has accumulated 296 runs, including her highest score of 64. In the qualifiers, Veronica has shown promise with scores of 10 and 19 but hasn’t managed to convert her starts. Her highest score of 64 and a recent 33 against Brazil reflect her ability to score big runs.

Alison Stocks

The 29-year-old all-rounder, with 21 T20I appearances, has taken 26 wickets and contributed 141 runs. Alison has had a promising start to her qualifier campaign, registering bowling figures of 0/25 (4) and 2/20 (4). However, her contributions with the bat are equally important, but she hasn’t managed to reach double-digit scores yet.

Renata de Sousa

The 25-year-old all-rounder, in 33 T20I outings, has scored 394 runs and struck 31 wickets, with best figures of 55 and 4/12 respectively. Renata de Sousa has had a hard time with the bat, nevertheless, she has made up for it with her bowling, producing excellent figures of 1/6 (4) and 1/18 (4).

Laura Cardoso

The highly talented 19-year-old all-rounder has scalped 20 wickets and scored 189 runs in 19 T20I games. Laura’s batting form has dipped recently, resulting in Brazil’s struggles in posting competitive totals. She will aim to rediscover her batting form, while her impressive bowling figures of 2/16 (3) and 0/19 (3) remain consistent.

Pitch:

The 22 yards at the Woodley Cricket Field, California, make up a highly advantageous surface for bowlers, particularly the pacers who excel in these conditions. The pitch poses significant challenges for batters, resulting in an average score of 85.

Weather:

With the temperature forecasted to hover around the late 20s, it will be a warm and sunny day at the Woodley Cricket Field, California. Light winds, humidity at 44%, and minimal chance of rain make it a good day to be at the cricket.
