Beth Mooney’s unbeaten 99 and Kathryn Bryce’s hat trick blows the Northern Superchargers away in a run-fest in Manchester

Manchester Originals led by skipper Sophie Ecclestone was all set to face the Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage at Old Trafford, Manchester in the 27th match of the season.

Manchester Originals skipper Sophie Ecclestone won the toss and opted to bat first. The Manchester Originals openers, Laura Wolvaardt and wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney got their side off to a flying start with a 60-run opening partnership. Linsey Smith picked up the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt to provide the much-needed breakthrough for the Northern Superchargers.

Kathryn Bryce joined the wicket-keeper batter Beth Mooney at the crease and the duo stitched another massive 67-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to take their side past the 120-run mark. Kathryn Bryce decided to retire out, for her team’s cause. Skipper Sophie Ecclestone strode out to the crease, with the intent to provide the impetus to the innings with just 10 balls to spare.

Manchester Originals eventually ended up with a total of 151/3 in their quota of 100 deliveries, courtesy of a flourish from Beth Mooney and skipper Sophie Ecclestone. Beth Mooney (99* off 54 balls), was just one run short of her well-deserved century. Laura Wolvaardt (26 off 21 balls), and Kathryn Bryce (13 off 21 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Manchester Originals.

Linsey Smith (20-6-32-1), Annabel Sutherland (20-8-25-0), Grace Ballinger (10-5-12-0), and Georgia Wareham (20-5-31-0) were the top performers with the ball for the Northern Superchargers. Chasing a stiff target of 152, the Northern Superchargers openers Davina Perrin and skipper Hollie Armitage got their side off to a cautious start with a 13-run opening partnership. Kim Garth picked up the wicket of Davina Perrin to provide the first breakthrough for Manchester Originals.

Georgia Wareham joined Annabel Sutherland at the crease and the duo took their side past the 100-run mark with a 16-run 4th-wicket partnership. Kathryn Bryce came back and picked up the wicket of Annabel Sutherland to provide the 4th breakthrough for her side.

Wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath joined Georgia Wareham at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 22-run partnership for the 5th wicket to take their side past the 120-run mark. Skipper Sophie Ecclestone picked up the wicket of the wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath to provide the 5th breakthrough for Manchester Originals. The Northern Superchargers were eventually restricted to 134/8 in their quota of 100 deliveries, falling short of the target by 17 runs.
