Lauren Cheatle, Tily Corteen-Coleman, and Danni Wyatt lead Southern Brave to their first victory of the season in a rain-curtailed encounter

Oval Invincibles led by skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill were up against Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams at the Kennington Oval, London. The Southern Brave skipper Georgia Adams won the toss and elected to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Oval Invincibles got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of Chamari Athapaththu for a duck on the 3rd ball of the innings.

Lauren Cheatle provided the first breakthrough for Southern Brave. Alice Capsey joined Lauren Winfield-Hill at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 23-run partnership for the 2nd wicket leading some kind of recovery for their side. Lauren Cheatle came back and picked up the wicket of Alice Capsey to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.

Marizanne Kapp joined skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill at the crease and just when the duo was building another partnership, the rains arrived, and the game was reduced to 65 balls per side contest. Oval Invincibles posted a total of 79/4 in their quota of 65 deliveries. Marizanne Kapp (26 off 17 balls), Alice Capsey (19 off 12 balls), and skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill (17 off 23 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Oval Invincibles.

Lauren Cheatle (15-14-6-2), Tily Corteen-Coleman (15-2-19-2), and Freya Kemp (10-6-11-0) were the top performers with the ball for Southern Brave. Chasing a revised target of 83, the Southern Brave openers, Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt got their side off to a steady start with a 16-run opening partnership. Smriti Mandhana was found short of her crease to provide the first breakthrough for Oval Invincibles.

Maia Bouchier joined Danielle Wyatt at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 23-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Ryana MacDonald-Gay cleaned up Maia Bouchier to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Freya Kemp soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 3rd breakthrough for Oval Invincibles.

Chloe Tryon joined Danielle Wyatt at the crease and the duo took their side over the line with a 39-run 4th-wicket partnership. Southern Brave got over the line with seven wickets in hand and one ball to spare. Danielle Wyatt (46 off 37 balls), Maia Bouchier (16 off 11 balls), and Chloe Tryon (9 off 8 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Oval Invincibles.

Ryana MacDonald-Gay (15-12-7-1), Sophia Smale (9-3-16-1), and Rachel Slater (10-5-12-0) were the top performers with the ball for Oval Invincibles. Veteran batter Danielle Wyatt was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant unbeaten innings (46* off 37 balls) with the bat. She played a crucial role in helping her side register their first victory in the ongoing 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred.
