Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts on Dean’s spectacular catch, while a few also remembered a controversial moment they shared back in 2022. The duo was involved in a massive controversy during an ODI match between India and England at Lord’s. Chasing a target of 170, the hosts found themselves in trouble at 118 for nine. However, Charlie Dean and Freya Davies had put together a 35-run stand for the last wicket before Deepti ran-out Dean at the non-striker’s end when the English batter backed up a bit too much. The form of dismissal sparked a debate about the laws and spirit of the game.

Playing for London Spirit in The Hundred, Dean pulled off a brilliant catch as Deepti Sharma got the crucial wicket of Paige Schofield. It was a one-handed stunner by Charlie Dean off Deepti Sharma’s bowling. Deepti Sharma had a brilliant day both with bat and ball, initially scoring 44 runs and later claiming three wickets, finishing with figures of 3 for 18.

Following the heartwarming moment between Deepti Sharma and Charlie Dean, fans on various social media platforms reacted positively. Some referred to Dean as “Spider-Man” and “The Flying Woman” for her stunning one-handed catch. Deepti Sharma’s crafty bowling was also mentioned. Charlie Dean’s one-handed screamer was potentially regarded as the catch of the tournament on social media platforms.

Fans also drew similarities to another Indian off-spinner and English player duo who faced the same kind of situation. In the 2019 Indian Premier League match, Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Jos Buttler at the non-striking end through a run-out on the non-striker’s end, later both represented Rajasthan Royals in 2022, where Buttler took a brilliant catch off Ashwin’s bowling, sharing a similar moment with Charlie Dean and Deepti Sharma.
