Pre match analysis of India vs England – Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017

Knock!! Knock!!
Hello friends; so, finally the big day has arrived.

India Vs England Women's Cricket World Cup 2017

After a power packed Men’s Champions Trophy, now it’s time to get ready and cheer up wholeheartedly for another month long mega event i.e. ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, 2017.

Yes!!! You read it right; it’s WOMEN’S CRICKET WORLD CUP or I should say Women’s edition of the most popular sport in our country.

And, what would be more exciting than this; that the Indian contingent has their opening fixture with the host country i.e. England Women.

The match will be played at County Ground, Derby and will start at 3PM as per Indian Standard Time.

The Indian team is led by Mithali Raj who has become the 1st Indian to lead India in ICC Women’s World Cup for the third time. Heather Knight would be the captain of the English team.s

Earlier, India Women has played two (2) warm-up games against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, lost one and won other respectively. While India saw a complete batting collapse against New Zealand, costing it the lose; but the team showed the strength and depth of its firm batting and bowling line up against Sri Lanka and won the match.

This edition of Women’s World Cup is very crucial from India’s point of view, especially after the dismal performance in the last edition of the mega event.

India was knocked out in the group stages and eventually finished 7th in the 2013 World Cup.

Out of its three group stage matches, India’s Women team could only manage to win one against West Indies and then lost to England and Sri Lanka.

If we look up to the Key players of the Indian team, then the following three names have to be highlighted:-
Captain cool Mithali Raj
Run machine Harmanpreet Kaur
Highest wicket taker Jhulan Goswami

As far as English team is concerned, Nat Sciver is one of the most unpredictable players who can pose a considerable threat to the opponents team as she can be really unstoppable on her day.

Though the past statistical records show England to be having a clear edge over the Indian brigade, but the story seems to be changing now with the recent achievements of Indian team on the International platform.
Also, the recent trends are convincing enough to believe that the winds may be turned around this time.

So friends, fix up your time and don’t forget to tune in to Star Sports for the live action sharp at 3PM.
