ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 breaks all T20 viewership records

The recently concluded T20 Women’s World Cup in Australia had all the attention from the very start. The fans, the pundits and even the broadcasters, all were ready for something big that shall forever change the dimension of female cricket.

The response from the fans and the viewers from throughout the globe was overwhelming too. The recent reports suggest a new high in the viewership and reach has been reached by the tournament.

The collective reach, in a broader sense, has grown exponentially by 200%. It has reached to 74.9 million. The online broadcaster Hotstar reports that around 180% rise has been observed from their end. Moreover, the consumption per user has risen by approximately 80%. These numbers are in relation to the previous world cup held in 2018.

Further, in comparison with the 2018 world cup, Australian Women’s World cup of 2020 saw an incredible rise of 2.5 times. The bigger numbers have come from the official broadcaster Star Sports. The viewership count as per their evaluation has risen to 5.4 billion minutes. This highlights three times rise in consumption via televised channels. As tournament moved away from the league stages towards the knockout faceoffs, the heads increased, and the matches were everything that the fans were talking about.
