In the 1st One-Day international between the Australian Women and the West Indian Women, the Australian batting unit achieved a remarkable feat. The Aussies have a star-studded batting side with the likes of Phoebe Litchfield, Ellyse Perry and Sophie Molineux. They were bowled out for 341 in the 1st innings of the match, and surprisingly, there was only one batter who scored a half-century. The batters put up a strong collective effort to put up a huge total on board, and for the first time in a women’s ODI innings, six players have scored 40+ runs. The Australian camp will be happy that their batting unit is performing collectively well and that it isn’t dependent on two or three players for big scores.

1) Phoebe Litchfield – 77(72)
Phoebe Litchfield, the Australian top-order batter, opened the innings along with Georgia Voll, and she looked well in touch. She scored 77 off 72 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 106. She was the only batter to reach the 50-run landmark in the innings, and she was dismissed in the 27th over by Hayley Matthews.
2) Georgia Voll – 42(32)
Georgia Voll, the Australian top-order batter, opened the innings along with Phoebe Litchfield and her innings, though short-lived, looked quite promising. She scored 42 off 32 balls, including 7 fours and a six at a strike rate of 131. She was explosive right from the beginning, and the opening duo had a solid partnership of 75 runs for the 1st wicket. She was dismissed by Afy Fletcher in the 11th over.
3) Ellyse Perry – 44(46)
Ellyse Perry, the Australian all-rounder, walked in to bat at number 3, and she did a great job to steady the ship after the loss of Georgia Voll. She scored 44 off 46 balls, including 3 sixes at a strike rate of 95. She looked like she was in the mood for a big score, but her plans were disrupted by Karishma Ramharack, who dismissed her in the 24th over.
4) Sophie Molineux – 47(66)
Sophie Molineux, the Australian all-rounder and skipper, walked in to bat at number 4, and she looked calm as she built her innings relatively slowly. She scored 47 off 66 balls, including 3 fours and a six, at a strike rate of 71. She tried to hold the innings together as both Phoebe Litchfield and Ashleigh Gardner were dismissed within just 17 runs. She looked like she would get to her half-century quite comfortably, but she was dismissed by Stafanie Taylor in the 48th over.
5) Nicola Carey – 49(39)
Nicola Carey, the Australian all-rounder, walked in to bat at number 6 and she provided an explosive finish to the innings for the Aussies. She scored 49 off just 39 balls, including 5 fours and a six at a strike rate of 125. She put up a 91-run partnership along with Sophie Molineux, and she missed her half-century by just 1 run as she was dismissed by Afy Fletcher in the 45th over.
6) Georgia Wareham – 42(21)
Georgia Wareham, the Australian all-rounder, walked in to bat at number 7 and she scored a quickfire knock to get the Aussies to a defendable total. She scored 42 off just 21 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. She didn’t change her approach despite wickets falling at the other end and ended up playing a crucial knock for her side. She was dismissed by Deandra Dottin in the 49th over.
