The Indonesian skipper Hilva Nuraulia Siami Lukman won the toss and opted to field first. The Malaysian openers Nazatul Hidayah Husna Razali and the wicket-keeper batter Nur Aliya Binti Mohd Hairun got their side off to an impressive start with a 62-run opening stand. An unfortunate run-out for Nazatul Razali (31 off 30 balls) ended her promising stay at the crease, providing the 1st breakthrough for Indonesia in the 11th over of the innings.

The Indonesian bowlers pounced on the opening and landed regular scalps, triggering a collapse as Malaysia lost their next 7 wickets for just 48 runs; as a result, they were restricted to 110/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Nur Aliya Binti Mohd Hairun (41 off 43 balls) top-scored with the bat for Malaysia. Nurin Imanina Mohd Ikrimah (16 off 17 balls) and Siti Hamra Mohd Sakri (12* off 11 balls) were the only other batters to enter the double digits with the bat for their side.

Anace Elna Elizabeth (4-18-3), Ni Komang Sukmayanthi Kari Putri (4-13-2), and NI Kadek Dwi Aprillia Putri (3-15-1) were the top performers with the ball for Indonesia.

Chasing a target of 111, Indonesia lost both their openers inside the powerplay and were reduced to 23/2. Anace Elna Elizabeth (24 off 28 balls) joined skipper Hilva Nuraulia Siami Lukman at the crease, and the pair took their side into a comfortable position in the run chase with a much-needed 66-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Irdina Beh Nabil broke the stand, by sending Anace Elna Elizabeth back to the pavilion in the 17th over of the run chase to provide the much-needed 3rd breakthrough for Malaysia.
