Asked to bat first after winning the toss, Bahrain never recovered from an early collapse. Opener Abeera Waris was trapped lbw by Wa Thone Nadi for a duck in the opening over, setting the tone for a difficult innings. Tharanga Gajanayake and captain Deepika Rasangika attempted to rebuild, but Myanmar’s bowlers maintained tight control and made scoring difficult throughout the powerplay.

The pair added 27 runs for the second wicket before Gajanayake fell for 9 off 29 balls, caught off May San. Rasangika battled hard for her 19 from 34 deliveries, striking Bahrain’s only boundary of the innings, but her dismissal at 44/4 in the 13th over effectively ended any hopes of a competitive total.

Saee Parkhi contributed 9(14), while Sana Butt added 5(12), but Bahrain lost wickets at regular intervals as the innings unravelled. From 44/3, they slipped to 58/8 before eventually being bowled out for 64 with one ball remaining. Remarkably, extras were Bahrain’s second-highest contributor with 12, underlining the struggles of the batting lineup.

Myanmar’s bowlers shared the wickets around in a disciplined display. Lin Lin Tun was the standout performer with excellent figures of 3/10 from her four overs, striking three crucial blows in the middle and lower order. May San returned 2/11 from four overs, while Theint Soe produced a miserly spell of 2/8 in 3.5 overs. Wa Thone Nadi (1/13) and Pan Ei Phyu (1/12) also chipped in as Bahrain managed just 64 at a run rate of 3.22.

The chase was never expected to trouble Myanmar, although Bahrain did make an early breakthrough when Gajanayake dismissed Khin Myat for 15(20) after the opener had helped her side reach 24 in the sixth over. Any hopes of a Bahrain comeback were quickly extinguished by Myanmar captain Theint Soe, who played the decisive innings of the match. Coming in at No.3, she attacked from the outset and scored 23 from just 18 deliveries, striking two boundaries and scoring at a strike rate of 127.77. Her aggressive knock shifted the momentum firmly in Myanmar’s favour and took the target out of Bahrain’s reach.

Theint Soe shared a 40-run stand with Thae Thae Aung that effectively sealed the result. While Soe provided the acceleration, Thae Thae Aung anchored the chase with an unbeaten 16 from 37 balls. Deepika Rasangika eventually removed Soe at 64/2, but the wicket came too late to affect the outcome. Lin Lin Tun then joined Thae Thae Aung at the crease and remained unbeaten on 1 as Myanmar completed the chase in 12.4 overs. Bahrain’s only wickets came through Gajanayake (1/16) and Rasangika (1/4), but their modest target offered little room for error.

Having dominated with the ball through Lin Lin Tun, Theint Soe and May San, Myanmar completed a comprehensive victory thanks to Soe’s 23 runs and Thae Thae Aung’s unbeaten 16, strengthening their position in Group A with a convincing all-round display.
