Ireland batted first, but their journey began with an early setback when opener Alice Tector was caught behind off Issy Wong for 11 runs off 14 balls, leaving Ireland at 13 for 1 in the 5th over. Following this drop, skipper Gaby Lewis stepped up to build a crucial 136-run partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter. Lewis led from the front, compiling a patient 69 off 89 deliveries with 8 boundaries, while Hunter matched her composure, grafting 62 runs off 90 balls featuring 5 boundaries.
