South Delhi Superstarz Women began cautiously after taking the opportunity to bat first. Nishika Singh opened the innings and played the role of the anchor, scoring a valuable 50 from 41 balls with eight boundaries. She found support from Priya Punia, who contributed 16 from 15 deliveries, including three fours. The pair helped South Delhi settle into the innings before Priya was dismissed by Soni. Nishika continued to hold the innings together, ensuring that the early wickets did not derail the batting side’s plans. Her half-century proved particularly important because it gave the innings a foundation on which the middle order could build.

Tanishqa Singh, however, had a difficult start to her first stay at the crease, falling for a five-ball duck after being trapped lbw by Medhavi Bidhuri. Tanisha Singh then took charge with a spectacular 64 from just 42 balls. Her innings contained 10 fours and came at a strike rate of 152.38, giving the South Delhi Superstarz Women the acceleration they needed. She attacked the bowling without allowing the pressure of wickets to affect her approach and turned the middle overs into a productive phase for her team.

The contribution around Tanisha was equally important. Shweta Sehrawat remained unbeaten on 19 from 13 balls, striking a six in her brief but effective stay. Disha Nagar added two from four deliveries before being dismissed by Monika, while Ekta Bhadana finished unbeaten without facing a ball. South Delhi Superstarz Women also collected five extras, taking their final score to 156/5 after 20 overs. The batting effort was built around the contrasting contributions of Nishika’s patient half-century and Tanisha’s explosive 64, while Priya, Shweta and the lower order ensured the innings retained its shape.

Central Delhi Queens began the chase with Deeksha Sharma and Saachi at the crease, but South Delhi’s bowlers quickly ensured that scoring would not be easy. Deeksha made nine from 14 balls before being caught by Sehrawat off Roopali Mohan, while Saachi managed only four from nine deliveries before Mohan dismissed her lbw. Arushi Goel then came in and scored five from six balls, but Disha Nagar removed her, leaving Central Delhi Queens struggling at 31/3. The early wickets meant that the chase required a substantial rebuilding effort, and Nidhi Mahto became the central figure in that recovery.

Nidhi Mahto played a magnificent innings under pressure, scoring 63 from 55 balls with five fours and two sixes. Her innings was the backbone of the Central Delhi Queens chase. She initially partnered Arushi Goel, with the pair attempting to stabilise the innings after the early setbacks. Once Arushi departed, Nidhi continued to fight on and found her most productive partnership with Monika. The fourth-wicket stand between Nidhi and Monika became the turning point of the chase, with the pair adding 65 runs. Monika’s 30 from 19 balls, including two fours and a six, provided much-needed attacking support and briefly gave Central Delhi Queens hope of mounting a serious challenge.

The partnership was eventually broken when Monika was dismissed, bringing Medhavi Bidhuri to the crease. Nidhi and Medhavi added 18 runs, but South Delhi Superstarz Women continued to chip away at the batting line-up. Medhavi made five from six balls before falling to Singh, after which Nidhi continued with Malika Khatri. Their partnership added eight runs, while Malika contributed seven from nine balls. Nidhi’s valiant innings finally ended at 63, with Singh taking the wicket of the key batter. At 122/6, the required rate had become too steep, and Central Delhi Queens’ hopes of chasing down 157 faded further.

Malika Khatri remained unbeaten on seven, while Soni Yadav was run out for a duck and R Priyadarshini finished unbeaten on three from two balls. The final stages of the chase also included a brief two-run partnership between Malika Khatri and Soni Yadav, followed by a three-run unbeaten association between Malika and R Priyadarshini. Central Delhi Queens eventually finished on 127/7 after their 20 overs, 29 runs short of the target.

The South Delhi Superstarz Women bowling attack deserves significant credit for the victory. Roopali Mohan was economical and effective, taking two wickets for 25 runs from her four overs. Mayuri Singh was particularly impressive, returning figures of 2/15 from four overs and maintaining an excellent economy rate of 3.75. Disha Nagar also claimed two wickets for 25 runs in her four-over spell, while Ekta Bhadana bowled three overs for 19 without taking a wicket. Himakshi Chaudhary was the most expensive of the regular bowlers, conceding 33 runs from four overs, while Kashish bowled one over for 10 runs. Despite the variation in figures, the collective effort ensured that Central Delhi Queens never got the sustained momentum required in a 157-run chase.

For Central Delhi Queens, the bowling attack faced a challenging task against South Delhi’s strong batting performance. The South Delhi Superstarz Women innings was shaped by Nishika Singh’s 50 and Tanisha Singh’s explosive 64, while Shweta Sehrawat’s unbeaten 19 provided a late push. Central Delhi Queens’ bowlers did manage to pick up five wickets, but they could not prevent South Delhi from reaching 156/5.

The result was therefore a complete team performance from South Delhi Superstarz Women. Nishika Singh provided the foundation with her 50, Tanisha Singh supplied the match-defining acceleration with 64, and the bowlers backed them up by taking wickets at regular intervals. Central Delhi Queens showed fight through Nidhi Mahto and Monika’s 65-run partnership and Nidhi’s determined half-century, but the early wickets and the mounting required rate proved decisive. With a 29-run victory in the WDP L 2026 opener, South Delhi Superstarz Women made a strong statement, while Central Delhi Queens will look to turn their promising middle-order fight into a more complete performance in their next match.
