2021: Oval Invincibles Begin the Hundred Era as Champions
The first-ever Women’s Hundred final was played between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave, with the Invincibles producing a complete performance to become the competition’s inaugural champions. Oval Invincibles scored 121/6 from their 100 balls, before Southern Brave were bowled out for 73 in 98 balls. The result gave the Invincibles a convincing 48-run victory in the first women’s final. Marizanne Kapp was the star of the match, scoring 26 runs and then producing an outstanding spell of 4 wickets for 9 runs. Dane van Niekerk also scored 26, while Kapp was named Player of the Match.
The final was largely decided by Oval Invincibles’ bowling attack, which never allowed Southern Brave to settle into their chase. Kapp’s four wickets came at important stages and kept Brave under pressure throughout the innings. The 48-run margin also showed how strongly the Invincibles controlled the game after setting a competitive total. For a new competition, the final gave the Hundred a strong opening chapter and introduced Kapp as one of its first major stars. Southern Brave, meanwhile, had to settle for the runners-up position but would soon get another chance to challenge for the trophy.
2022: Oval Invincibles Retain Their Crown
Oval Invincibles returned to the final in 2022 and once again faced Southern Brave, making it the first repeat final in the history of the women’s competition. This time, the contest was much closer, with Southern Brave posting 101/7 from their 100 balls. The Invincibles then chased the target and finished on 105/5 from 94 balls, winning by five wickets with six balls remaining. Marizanne Kapp again played a major role, remaining unbeaten on 37 from 33 balls to guide her team through the chase. Shabnim Ismail and Alice Capsey took two wickets each, but Brave could not stop the Invincibles from completing the chase.
Kapp’s performances in the first two finals became one of the early stories of The Hundred Women’s Competition. After winning the Player of the Match award for her four-wicket spell in 2021, she returned the following year with a crucial unbeaten innings. Southern Brave had once again pushed Oval Invincibles, but the defending champions showed better control in the closing stages. The victory made Oval Invincibles the first team to win the Women’s Hundred title twice. For Brave, it was a second final defeat against the same opposition, leaving them still waiting for their first championship.
2023: Southern Brave Finally Lift the Trophy
Southern Brave finally broke their final hoodoo in 2023 when they faced Northern Superchargers in the championship match. After losing the first two finals, Brave produced a strong performance with both bat and ball to win the trophy. They scored 139/6 from their 100 balls, giving Superchargers a difficult target to chase. Northern Superchargers were then bowled out for 105 in 94 balls, handing Southern Brave a 34-run victory. Danni Wyatt-Hodge was the leading batter, scoring an impressive 59 from 38 balls, while Kalea Moore and Lauren Bell took three wickets each to complete the victory.
The result was especially important for Southern Brave because of their previous final disappointments. They had reached the first two championship matches but lost both times to Oval Invincibles, making the 2023 victory a long-awaited moment for the franchise. Brave’s batting gave their bowlers enough runs to work with, and the attack responded by taking wickets regularly during the chase. The final also had an emotional side because it was a memorable farewell match for Southern Brave captain Anya Shrubsole. Winning the trophy in her farewell appearance made the occasion even more special for the team.
2024: London Spirit Win a Close Final
The 2024 final brought together London Spirit and Welsh Fire, with both sides looking to win their first Women’s Hundred title. Welsh Fire batted first and scored 115/8 from their 100 balls, with Jess Jonassen making 54 runs to give her team a competitive total. London Spirit’s chase went down to the final stages, but they eventually reached 118/6 from 98 balls and won by four wickets with two balls remaining. Georgia Redmayne scored 29 for London Spirit, while Sarah Glenn and Eva Gray took two wickets each for Welsh Fire. The narrow finish added another dramatic final to the competition’s history.
London Spirit needed to remain calm during the chase after losing wickets at regular intervals. Welsh Fire had put enough pressure on the batting side to make the result uncertain until the final few balls. Deepti Sharma played an important part in the finish, hitting a late six before helping Spirit complete the winning run. The victory gave London Spirit their first Women’s Hundred championship and added another new name to the list of winners. Welsh Fire had fought hard throughout the match, but Spirit found the required runs when they mattered most and became the third different champion in three seasons.
2025: Northern Superchargers Claim Their First Title
The 2025 final saw Northern Superchargers face Southern Brave, with Brave hoping to win their second title after their success in 2023. Southern Brave scored 115/6 from their 100 balls, leaving Superchargers needing 116 to become champions. Northern Superchargers handled the chase confidently and reached 119/3 from 88 balls, winning by seven wickets with 12 balls remaining. Nicola Carey remained unbeaten on 35 from 25 balls, playing an important role in the successful chase. Kate Cross and Annabel Sutherland took two wickets each, but Brave could not create enough pressure to defend their total.
The victory gave Northern Superchargers their first Women’s Hundred title and made them the fourth different women’s champion in the first five seasons. It was another difficult final for Southern Brave, who had now reached the championship match three times and lost twice. Their 2023 triumph remains their only title so far, while Superchargers joined the growing list of teams to lift the trophy. The 2025 final also showed how important a calm chase can be in a pressure match, as Superchargers reached the target with 12 balls still available.
Five Finals, Four Champions and Plenty of Big Performances
The first five editions of the Women’s Hundred have produced a healthy mix of champions and memorable finals. Oval Invincibles remains the only team to win the title twice, with their victories coming in 2021 and 2022. Southern Brave followed in 2023, London Spirit won in 2024, and Northern Superchargers became champions in 2025. The finals have also produced different types of results, from Invincibles’ comfortable 48-run win in the inaugural season to Spirit’s two-ball finish in 2024.
The 2026 season has created another interesting chapter, with Trent Rockets finishing first after winning seven of their eight league matches. They collected 28 points and finished with an excellent +1.391 net run rate, giving them direct qualification for the final. Their only defeat came against Welsh Fire, while their strong run included wins over Southern Brave, Sunrisers Leeds, Birmingham Phoenix and MI London. Rockets confirmed their place at the top after beating Southern Brave by three wickets on August 10. Their consistency across the league stage has earned them the biggest advantage available in the knockout format.
The Eliminator will be played between Sunrisers Leeds and Southern Brave at The Oval on Friday, August 14, with the match scheduled to begin at 6:45 PM. Sunrisers enter the game in second place after their strong win over Manchester Super Giants, while Brave will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Trent Rockets. The winner will move directly into the final, while the losing team will be eliminated from the competition. With only one match separating them from the title match, both sides will know that there is no room for a poor start or a late mistake.
