India Women’s Tour of South Africa 2026 Expanded with Addition of 3-Match T20I Series

Cricket South Africa has confirmed an important update to India’s women’s tour of South Africa later this year. The tour was originally scheduled to include a one-off Test match and a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series. It will now also feature a three-match T20 International (T20I) series, making it a complete multi-format tour. The additional matches will help both teams prepare for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, which will take place soon after the series. The expanded schedule is expected to make the tour one of the biggest women’s cricket events of the year.

The updated programme means India and South Africa will now meet in all three international formats during the South African home summer. The extra T20Is will give both teams more time to test combinations, improve match fitness and build momentum before the ICC event. Both squads are expected to include a mix of experienced international players and exciting young talent. That makes this tour even more important for the two sides. Fans can now look forward to a longer series with plenty of high-quality cricket.

The tour will begin with a one-off Test match at St George’s Park in Gqeberha. The match will be played from December 9 to December 12, 2026, with play beginning at 10:00 AM SAST every day. Women’s Test cricket continues to grow, and both teams will be eager to perform well in the longest format. A strong start in the Test will also help both sides build confidence before the white-ball matches. It promises to be an exciting opening to the tour.

After the Test match, the teams will move into the three-match ODI series. The opening ODI will be played on December 16, 2026 (Wednesday) at Boland Park, Paarl, beginning at 10:00 AM SAST. The second ODI is scheduled for December 19, 2026 (Saturday) at Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town, with the match starting at 2:00 PM SAST. The third and final ODI will take place on December 22, 2026 (Tuesday) at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, with play also beginning at 2:00 PM SAST. These matches will play an important role in helping both teams settle into the tour.

Cricket South Africa has also confirmed that the tour will finish with a three-match T20I series. The opening T20I will be played on December 26, 2026 (Saturday) at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, starting at 6:00 PM SAST. The second and third T20Is will both be played at JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom, on December 29, 2026 (Tuesday) and December 30, 2026 (Wednesday). Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM SAST. The additional T20Is will provide valuable match practice before the ICC tournament.

One of the biggest attractions of the revised schedule is the Boxing Day T20I on December 26. Boxing Day has always been associated with major international cricket, and the addition of a women’s international on that day is another positive step for the continued growth of the women’s game. The match is expected to attract strong interest from cricket fans across South Africa. It will also give the players another memorable occasion to compete on a major stage. The fixture is likely to become one of the highlights of the tour.

With two strong teams facing each other across seven international matches, supporters can expect competitive cricket throughout the tour. The updated schedule also reflects the growing importance of women’s cricket around the world. Both teams will now look forward to making the most of this exciting opportunity.
