After opting to field first, the hosts kept Hong Kong under pressure throughout the innings despite a few useful partnerships in the middle overs. Namibia’s disciplined bowling attack ensured the visitors never managed to build sustained momentum, before captain Sune Wittmann anchored a flawless chase with a brilliant unbeaten half-century to guide her side home in just 13.4 overs.
Hong Kong Women’s innings had a steady beginning through skipper Natasha Miles and Mariko Hill, who carefully negotiated the opening overs while looking to capitalize on loose deliveries. The opening pair stitched together 38 runs for the first wicket, with Hill providing the early aggression by striking six boundaries during her run-a-ball 35 off 35 deliveries, while Miles contributed a composed 15 from 16 balls. Their partnership gave Hong Kong a stable platform before Eveleen Kejarukua provided the breakthrough, dismissing Natasha Miles at 38/1 in 5.4 overs. The wicket immediately shifted the momentum in Namibia’s favour.
The pressure continued to mount as Mekelaye Mwatile removed Mariko Hill at 47/2 in 7.4 overs, ending Hong Kong’s most productive partnership. Shanzeen Shahzad managed only 5 off 8 balls, falling after adding just nine runs with Hill. Hong Kong then attempted to rebuild through Marina Lamplough and Maryam Bibi, who put together a valuable 36-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Lamplough scored 12 from 18 deliveries, while Maryam played positively, finding the boundary three times during her unbeaten 26 off 25 balls.
Namibia, however, maintained excellent control through their bowlers during the middle overs. The innings was eventually carried to the finish by the unbeaten pair of Maryam Bibi (26*) and Joyleen Kaur (7*), whose 37-run seventh wicket stand helped Hong Kong reach 120/6 in their 20 overs. Namibia’s bowling performance was built on discipline rather than outright pace. Eveleen Kejarukua finished with 2/16 from four economical overs, consistently troubling the batters with her accuracy. Mekelaye Mwatile matched that effort brilliantly by returning figures of 1/14 in three overs, removing key middle-order batters and effectively ending Hong Kong’s hopes of posting a larger total. Jurriene Diergaardt chipped in with 1/26, while Wilka Mwatile bowled a miserly spell of 4-0-14-0 despite going wicketless. Gorases played an entertaining cameo of 15 off only 9 balls, smashing three boundaries before being run out by Joyleen Kaur, giving Hong Kong their only early breakthrough.
The dismissal brought Mekelaye Mwatile to the crease, and she immediately ensured Namibia never lost control of the chase. Together with Wittmann, the pair produced the match-defining 64-run second-wicket partnership, combining sensible rotation with aggressive strokeplay. Mwatile scored a fluent 36 from 28 deliveries, striking three fours and two sixes before Marina Lamplough finally dismissed her at 100/2 in 11.3 overs. By then, the required equation had become straightforward for the home side.
Captain Sune Wittmann remained unbeaten throughout the chase with a magnificent 59 not out from just 38 balls, an innings featuring 10 fours at an outstanding strike rate of 155.26. She calmly guided Namibia towards the target alongside Kayleen Green, who remained unbeaten on 8 from 7 deliveries. Their unbroken 24-run partnership for the third wicket sealed the contest as Namibia finished on 124/2 in only 13.4 overs, completing the chase with 38 balls remaining.
Hong Kong’s bowlers struggled to contain Namibia’s aggressive batting approach. Marina Lamplough was the lone wicket-taker, finishing with 1/30 in four overs. Iqra Sahar delivered 2.4 overs for 23 runs, while Kary Chan conceded 21 runs in three overs. Alison Siu leaked 27 runs in two overs, and Mahekdeep Kaur gave away 20 runs from her two overs, as Namibia’s batters dominated throughout the chase.
