Kuwait Women U19 delivered a complete all-round performance to register a comprehensive 113-run victory over Hong Kong, China Women U19 in the ACC Women’s U19 Premier Cup 2026 at the Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur.
After building their innings through a series of useful partnerships, Kuwait finished on 139/5 in 20 overs before producing a ruthless bowling display to dismiss Hong Kong, China for just 26 in 11.5 overs. The victory was set up by an unbeaten half-century from Angel Dcosta and then sealed by an outstanding effort from the bowling unit, led by Angel herself with the ball.
Kuwait’s innings began positively as Zeefa Jilani came out with intent, striking four boundaries during her brisk 24 off 18 balls. Alongside Angel Dcosta, she put together an opening partnership worth 54 runs from 36 deliveries, giving Kuwait exactly the platform they were looking for. The stand ended in the sixth over when Wong Wing Kiu Hailey trapped Zeefa leg before wicket, providing Hong Kong, China with their first breakthrough at 54/1 in 5.6 overs.
Angel continued to anchor the innings despite the dismissal at the other end. Raelyn Maria joined her but could contribute only 4 from 8 balls before Nimbra Arab dismissed her at 74/2 in 8.6 overs. Although the scoring rate slowed briefly, Angel ensured Kuwait remained in control with sensible strike rotation and timely boundaries.
The innings gathered momentum again through a valuable 29-run partnership from 31 balls between Angel Dcosta (12) and Pearl Serena (13 off 14). Pearl played a composed hand before being run out at 103/3 in 13.6 overs, but the partnership ensured Kuwait maintained a solid platform heading into the closing overs.
Kuwait found another productive stand when captain Candice Jerica walked in to support Angel. The pair added 36 runs in 35 balls, with Candice contributing 13 off 15 deliveries, including a boundary. She was dismissed by Arna Senthivel at 139/4 in 19.3 overs, having helped Angel guide the innings through the death overs. Just three balls later, Kaelyn Ruth Pinto was bowled by Arna for 0 off 3 balls, leaving Kuwait at 139/5 in 19.6 overs.
Angel remained unbeaten on a superb 59 from 66 balls, striking two fours while holding the innings together from start to finish. Kuwait’s total was also boosted by a significant 26 extras, which included 21 wides, one leg bye and four no-balls, highlighting Hong Kong, China’s struggles with discipline.
Hong Kong, China’s bowlers enjoyed moments of success despite the final result. Arna Senthivel was the standout performer, returning 2/18 from four overs while maintaining good control during the closing stages. Nimbra Arab claimed 1/35 in four overs, and Wong Wing Kiu Hailey picked up 1/37 in four overs with the crucial wicket of Zeefa. Leung Man Kei Megan also chipped in with 1/18 in four overs, while Arooj Fatima went wicketless but completed her four-over spell for 30 runs.
Chasing 140, Hong Kong, China endured a nightmare start that they never recovered from. Storm Emise Parker was bowled by Angel Dcosta for a first-ball duck, while Poon Hoi Lam also fell without scoring as Angel struck again. Wong Wing Kiu Hailey departed leg before wicket to Angel, leaving the side reeling at 3/1 inside the opening over. Wicketkeeper So Wan Tung briefly resisted with 6 off 8 balls, including the team’s only boundary, sharing a 17-run stand before she was caught by Angela Mary off Candice Jerica.
The collapse continued as Arna Senthivel was bowled by Candice for 0, Nimbra Arab managed just 1, Arooj Fatima was trapped leg before by Pearl Serena, and Leung Man Kei Megan fought for 4 from 23 balls before being run out by Pearl Serena. Lower-order batters Tong Sui Ting remained unbeaten on 1, Lo Oi Sze scored 2, while Noor Ul Ain fell for a duck. Hong Kong, China were bundled out for 26 in 11.5 overs, with no batter reaching double figures.
Kuwait’s bowling attack was exceptional from the outset. Angel Dcosta produced a sensational spell of 4 overs, 1 run and 4 wickets, dismantling the top order and virtually ending the contest inside the Powerplay.
