Sunida Chaturongrattana Takes 5-Fer as Thailand Women Beat Myanmar by 10 Wickets

Thailand Women produced a dominant all-round performance to register a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Myanmar Women in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2026 at Kuala Lumpur. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Thailand’s bowlers set the tone early and never allowed Myanmar to settle, before their openers chased down the modest target with remarkable ease and authority.

The innings began cautiously for Myanmar Women as Khin Myat and captain Theint Soe attempted to negotiate a disciplined Thailand bowling attack. However, Thailand struck in the third over when Theint Soe was dismissed for 1, leaving Myanmar at 1/3. The opening partnership yielded just three runs before Sunida Chaturongrattana made the breakthrough. Khun Myat struggled to score freely while wickets continued to tumble at the other end. Zon Lin managed only 1 before becoming Phannita Maya’s first victim, and Myanmar slipped further into trouble at 2/5.

Thailand’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure through accurate lines and lengths. Thae Thae Aung was removed without scoring, making it 3/6, while May San also departed for a duck shortly afterwards as Myanmar slumped to 4/7. A brief fifth-wicket stand between Khin Myat and Lin Lin Tun added a few valuable runs, but the partnership never looked threatening. Lin Lin Tun added 2 before becoming Sunida Chaturongrattana’s second victim. Khin Myat battled for 26 deliveries to score 5 runs but was eventually dismissed by Sunida, leaving Myanmar reeling at 5/8.

The collapse continued as Zar Win fell for 0, Moe Ei Phyu managed only 1, and Htet Aung was trapped lbw without scoring. Myanmar’s lower order found little respite against the disciplined Thailand attack. At 10/8 after the dismissal of Htet Aung, the innings appeared destined for an even lower total. However, Shwe Yee Win and Wa Thone Nadi showed some resistance in the closing stages. The pair stitched together Myanmar’s highest partnership of the innings, an unbroken 22-run stand for the tenth wicket. Shwe Yee Win remained unbeaten on 10 from 23 balls, while Wa Thone Nadi supported her with 8 not out from 16 deliveries. Their efforts pushed Myanmar’s total to 32/9 in 17 overs, a total that at least gave the bowlers something to defend.

Thailand’s bowling unit delivered a collective masterclass in T20 cricket. Player of the Match Sunida Chaturongrattana was exceptional, claiming 5 wickets for just 3 runs in her 3 overs while maintaining an economy rate of 1.00. Phannita Maya provided excellent support with figures of 3/4 from 4 overs, including a maiden. Thipatcha Putthawong chipped in with 1/10 from 4 overs, while Suleeporn Laomi bowled economically for 3 overs and conceded only 3 runs without taking a wicket. Chayanisa Phengpaen and Onnicha Kamchomphu also kept things tight, ensuring Myanmar never built any meaningful momentum.

Chasing a target of 33, Thailand Women wasted no time asserting their dominance. Openers Nattakan Chantham and Phannita Maya immediately put the Myanmar bowlers under pressure. The duo played positive cricket from the outset and quickly erased any hopes of a miracle comeback. Chantham struck a boundary in her unbeaten 8 off 8 balls, while Phannita Maya produced an explosive knock of 22 not out from just 11 deliveries, including four boundaries at a strike rate of 200.00.

The opening partnership remained unbroken and was worth 33 runs, taking Thailand comfortably to the target in just 3.1 overs. Myanmar’s bowlers struggled to contain the aggressive intent of the Thailand batters. Zon Lin conceded 16 runs in her solitary over, while Theint Soe gave away 12 runs from one over. Zar Win was the most economical of the three bowlers used, conceding only 4 runs from 1.1 overs, but the target was simply too small to create any real pressure.
