Taj Nehar’s Personal Details:
Full Name: Taj Nehar
Date of Birth: 3 October 1997
Batting Style: Right-handed batter
Bowling Style: Right-arm off-break
Role: Top-order batter

Taj Nehar is a top-order batter who earned her opportunity at international level after several years of consistent performances in Bangladesh’s domestic circuit. Born in Patuakhali, she began her senior domestic career with Sylhet Division, making her List A debut in 2017 before appearing in domestic T20 cricket the following year.
A technically sound batter capable of anchoring an innings, Taj spent several seasons building her reputation in domestic cricket before attracting the attention of national selectors. Her performances earned her a place as a standby player for the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup before she received her maiden Bangladesh call-up for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Taj Nehar’s International Career
Taj made her WT20I debut against Scotland on 3 October 2024, remarkably on her 27th birthday. Ahead of the tournament, she was also part of the Bangladesh A squad that faced Sri Lanka A in a five-match T20 series, further strengthening her credentials as a top-order option.
After featuring for Bangladesh during the 2024 T20 World Cup and into early 2025, Taj fell out of the national setup and did not play international cricket after January 2025. However, strong domestic performances and Bangladesh’s search for additional batting depth led to her return, with selectors recalling her to the squad for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Her selection represents one of the notable comeback stories in Bangladesh’s squad and an opportunity to re-establish herself at international level.
In WT20Is, Taj has played 8 matches, scoring 44 runs with a highest score of 19. While her international numbers remain modest, Bangladesh will hope her domestic experience and maturity can help strengthen a batting lineup that has often relied heavily on a small group of senior players.
Now back in the squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Taj provides additional top-order depth and experience. Her ability to play a stabilising role could prove useful in English conditions, where batters often need to spend time at the crease before accelerating. Having earned a recall after more than a year away from international cricket, she will be aiming to make the most of a second opportunity on the global stage.
