Bree Illing is a young left-arm fast bowler from New Zealand. Born in Auckland, she started playing cricket with Auckland Women and later made her way into the national team through strong performances in domestic T20 cricket. Apart from cricket, Illing also focused on studies and completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Auckland. She also worked as a media archiver at Mainfreight along with her father. In club cricket, she played for Cornwall Club.
Bree Illing WT20I Career
Illing made her WT20I debut for New Zealand against Sri Lanka on 14 March 2025. She quickly impressed with her pace and control. In the same series, she took two wickets in a match and helped New Zealand level the series. So far, she has played 8 WT20Is and taken 6 wickets, with best bowling figures of 2/18. She is known for bowling tight overs and using her left-arm angle well during the powerplay and middle overs.
Bree Illing T20 Career
Illing made her domestic T20 debut for Auckland Women during the 2023-24 Super Smash season. Her steady bowling performances soon made her one of the promising young bowlers in New Zealand women’s cricket.
In 2022, she was selected for New Zealand’s Under-19 setup and was later picked in the squad for the 2023 ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup. However, she missed the tournament because of injury. She also represented New Zealand A against England A, where she gained more experience before entering international cricket.
