Lucy Hamilton has rapidly emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting young fast-bowling prospects, with her left-arm pace and leadership qualities marking her out as a player for the future. Hailing from Bundaberg in Queensland, Hamilton progressed quickly through Australia’s development pathways and announced herself early in domestic cricket. She became the second-youngest player to debut for Queensland Fire in the WNCL when she made her senior debut against Western Australia in March 2022, highlighting how highly she was rated within Australian cricket circles.

Hamilton debuted for Brisbane Heat during WBBL and steadily developed into one of the competition’s brightest young talents. A member of Australia’s Under-19 World Cup squad in 2022, she impressed with five wickets at an average of 10.5 during the tournament. Two years later, she created WBBL history by becoming the youngest player to register a five-wicket haul in the competition, producing extraordinary figures of 5/8, equal to the second-best bowling performance in league history. Her leadership credentials were also recognised in 2025 when she was appointed captain of Australia’s Under-19 World Cup side before later earning Australia A opportunities.

Lucy Hamilton International Career

Hamilton’s international breakthrough arrived during the 2025-26 multi-format series against India. She made her ODI debut in Hobart in March 2026 before earning a Test cap in Perth just one week later. A WT20I debut against West Indies followed later that month, completing a remarkable run of milestones within a short period. Strong performances against India and West Indies quickly strengthened her standing within the national setup and earned her selection in Australia’s squad for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Her ability to generate variation as a left-arm seamer positions her as one of Australia’s most promising young players for the years ahead.
