The ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2026 is set to begin in Malaysia from June 1 to June 13, with 16 teams from across Asia competing in one of the region’s biggest tournaments for associate women’s cricket nations. Organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and hosted by the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA), the tournament will follow a group-stage and knockout format. The teams have been divided into four groups, with the top two teams progressing to the next stage of the competition.

Group A includes Bahrain, Mongolia, Myanmar and Thailand. Thailand Women are expected to be the strongest side in the group given their experience in ICC events and regional tournaments like the ACC Women’s Asia Cup rising stars. Myanmar have also shown improvement in recent years, while Bahrain and Mongolia will aim to gain valuable international exposure. Group B features China, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. UAE Women enters the tournament in solid form as they won two out of three matches in the Asia Cup rising stars tournament against teams like India-A and Nepal. Saudi Arabia Women continue to develop rapidly, while Oman and China will look to compete strongly in a balanced group.
Hosts Malaysia lead Group C alongside Indonesia, Kuwait and Singapore. Malaysia will hope home conditions work in their favor despite mixed recent results. Indonesia have shown steady progress in regional cricket and could challenge strongly for qualification from the group stage. Group D consists of Bhutan, Hong Kong, China, Nepal and Qatar and is expected to be one of the most competitive groups in the tournament. Nepal Women and Hong Kong, China are likely to start as favorites based on recent form and international experience.
Hong Kong, China recently won the Lotus Cup earlier this year after defeating Bhutan in the final. They also impressed during a recent Women’s T20I tri-series, recording multiple wins against Malaysia and China. Nepal Women have also continued to perform consistently in ACC and ICC events over the past few years.
The ACC Women’s Premier Cup remains an important tournament for the growth of women’s cricket in Asia, giving emerging teams the opportunity to compete regularly at the international level. With several teams’ showing rapid improvement in recent years, the tournament in Malaysia is expected to be closely contested.
