Chamari Athapaththu Rises to Top 3 in ICC Women’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings

Sri Lanka’s dynamic captain Chamari Athapaththu has stormed into the top three of the ICC Women’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings with a career-best 368 points, capping off her side’s dominant 3-0 T20I whitewash against Bangladesh.

This rankings update, fresh from the white-ball series in Sylhet (20th April to 2nd May 2026), rewards standout performers from the tour, where Sri Lanka also clinched the preceding ODI series 2-1, and signals rising momentum for the expanded 12-team ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales (12th June to 5th July). With teams split into Group 1 (Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands, India, Pakistan) and Group 2 (England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, West Indies, Scotland), Athapaththu’s form positions the Lankans strongly for their opener against hosts England.

Batting Rankings:

Australia’s Georgia Voll continues to hold the top spot in the T20I rankings update. South Africa’s Sune Luus climbed up one spot to the 28th position (538 points). UAE’s Samaira Dharnidharka climbed up a couple of spots to equal the 88th position (303 points) alongside Scotland’s Ailsa Lister, who also climbed up a couple of spots

Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka’s batters shone brightly. Harshitha Samarawickrama climbed five spots to joint 20th, while Imesha Dulani rocketed 23 places to a career-best 49th. Athapaththu held steady at ninth.

Bangladesh: Despite the series loss, Bangladesh unearthed gems: Sharmin Akhter Supta jumped 10 to 37th, Dilara Akter rose five to 49th, and Shorna Akter surged 19 to 62nd.

Bowling Rankings:

Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal retains the top spot in the bowling rankings in the latest update. South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka climbed up one spot to the 27th position (575 points). Marizanne Kapp climbed up one spot to the 32nd position (554 points). Uganda’s Kevin Amuge has climbed up a couple of spots to the 74th position (409 points). Ireland’s Cara Murray has also climbed up a couple of spots to the 75th position (407 points). Nepal’s Manisha Upadhayay climbed up five spots to equal the 99th position (331 points) alongside Jahzara Claxton from the West Indies.

Sri Lanka: Skipper Chamari Athapaththu continued her ascent, rising three places to 41st among bowlers. Teammate Kavisha Dilhari advanced two spots to 17th (645 points). Sri Lanka’s Malki Madara picked up a couple of wickets in a couple of innings with the ball for her side in the series against Bangladesh. As a result, she has earned a significant rise as she has climbed up 11 spots to the 44th position (496 points).

Bangladesh: Sultana Khatun’s six-wicket haul catapulted her 48 places to 38th, a testament to individual grit amid team setbacks. Fariha Trisna picked up 1 wicket in three innings with the ball in the recent series. As a result, she has climbed up 17 spots to equal the 77th position (404 points) alongside England’s Em Arlott. Marufa Akter picked up one wicket in a couple of innings in the series. As a result, she has climbed up 8 spots to the 81st position (397 points).

All-rounder Rankings:

The New Zealand skipper, Amelia Kerr, retains the top spot in the latest rankings update. India’s Renuka Singh Thakur climbed up a couple of spots to the 39th position (106 points). New Zealand’s Lea Tahuhu has climbed up a couple of spots to equal the 40th position (105 points) alongside Nahida Akter from Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka: Chamari Athapaththu yet again led from the front, aggregating 115 runs across three matches (32, 42, 41) while snaring four wickets to earn Player of the Series honours. Her efforts propelled her two places to third overall (368 points), behind New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr and the West Indies’ Hayley Matthews. This career-high rating underscores her all-phase threat, sending a bold message ahead of Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign.

The Sri Lankan duo of Malki Madara (climbed up 11 spots to equal the 62nd position [77 points] alongside Uganda’s Immaculate Nakisuuyi. Sugandika Kumari climbed up two spots to equal the 64th position (76 points) alongside Aaliyah Alleyne from the West Indies.

Bangladesh: Shorna Akter ended as the leading run-scorer with the bat for her side, registering 76 runs at a strike rate of 118.75 and an average of 25.33, including a half-century in three matches with the bat for her side in the series. As a result, she has climbed up a couple of spots to the 23rd position (146 points). The Bangladesh duo of Sultana Khatun rose 66 spots to equal the 97th position (54 points) alongside Sanjida Akter Meghla, who climbed up one spot, and Nepal’s Puja Mahato and Papua New Guinea’s Hane Tau.
