The Proteas, led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt, have rocketed up the charts after dismantling India in the first two T20Is of their five-match white-ball series, winning by six wickets in the opener and a clinical eight wickets in Durban to seize a 2-0 lead. Players from both sides shine in the update, signalling fierce form as they fine-tune for the global showdown, where every rung climbed could tip the scales in the race for silverware.

T20I Batting Rankings: Wolvaardt Anchors Proteas Charge, Verma and Kaur Close In

South Africa’s batting backbone held firm under pressure, fueling major gains. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt, with a splendid half-century in the second T20I against India, clings to fifth place behind Australia’s Georgia Voll, proving her class in crunch moments. Teammates Annerie Dercksen leapt 18 rungs to 33rd, while Sune Luus climbed eight spots to 35th, their Durban contributions underscoring the Proteas’ depth.

India’s openers fire back: Shafali Verma surged two places to sixth with a gritty 57, hot on the heels of Smriti Mandhana, who’s locked in at fourth. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, fresh off an unbeaten 47 in the series opener, jumped two rungs to equal 11th, nipping at the top 10 as India plots a comeback.

The West Indian skipper Hayley Matthews has inched closer to the top spot as she climbed up one spot to the 3rd position (767 points). Chloe Tryon chipped in with a handy 18* in the 1st T20I with the bat for her side. As a result, she has climbed up one spot to the 59th position (402 points).

Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal grips the No. 1 bowler’s perch by a thread, but South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba steals the spotlight, vaulting five places to equal sixth after snaring two wickets from India’s top order in the opening pair of matches. The Proteas’ attack surges further: Ayabonga Khaka rocketed eight slots to 25th, Chloe Tryon gained three to 38th, and Tumi Sekhukhune bounded 23 spots to 55th, exposing India’s middle-order frailties. England’s Lauren Bell has climbed up one spot to the 3rd position (714 points), Australia’s Annabel Sutherland has also inched closer to the top spot as she has climbed up a couple of spots to the 4th position (707 points).

India counters with left-armer Shree Charani, up four places to 23rd, a silver lining as the visitors eye redemption in the remaining T20Is from April 17-27.

T20I All-Rounder Rankings: Kerr Reigns, Tryon and Dercksen Climb

New Zealand skipper Amelia Kerr holds the all-rounder throne unchallenged with impressive all-round performances. South Africa’s Chloe Tryon vaults four places to equal 11th, her dual threat amplifying the Proteas’ momentum, while Annerie Dercksen surges 11 rungs to 29th, her series exploits marking her as a World Cup wildcard. South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka has climbed up five spots to the 39th position (109 points). Australia’s Kim Garth has climbed up a couple of spots to equal the 74th position (67 points) alongside the UAE’s Samaira Dharnidharka, who has also climbed up a couple of spots.

England’s Alice Capsey has climbed up a couple of spots to equal the 76th position (66 points) alongside Zaida James from the West Indies and Radha Yadav from India. Nepal’s Puja Mahato has been in impressive form for her side in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20I Challenge Trophy 2026, scoring 53 runs at a strike rate of 103.92 in a couple of innings with the bat for her side in the tournament so far. As a result, she has climbed up 5 spots to equal the 93rd position (57 points), alongside Isle of Man’s Lucy Barnett, Sita Rana Magar from Nepal, and Ireland’s Cara Murray.
