In a bold step to nurture the next generation of women’s cricket talent, the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Panel has announced a 15-member Under-19 squad for their upcoming tour of Australia. The young Lankans will compete in a thrilling tri-series alongside England from April 7 to 18, 2026, featuring two One-Dayers and four T20s on the dates of April 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, and 18.

With the team set to depart Colombo on April 3, this series promises to be a crucial proving ground for emerging stars aiming to emulate the feats of Sri Lanka’s senior women’s team on the global stage.
The squad, carefully curated by the selection panel, blends raw potential with tactical nous, reflecting Sri Lanka’s commitment to building depth in women’s cricket. Captained by the poised Chamodi Praboda. The side features a balanced mix of aggressive batters, crafty spinners, and fiery pacers ready to tackle Australian conditions.
Sri Lanka Under-19 Squad for the Tri-series in Australia:
Chamodi Praboda (C), Vimoksha Balasuriya, Sanjana Kavindi, Umayangana Peiris, Nethagi Isuranjali, Shashini Gimhani, Pramudi Methsara, Limansa Thilakaratne, Nethmi Upeksha, Aseni Thalagune, Chamodi Herath, Danodya Sewmini, Yeshali Jithara, Daria Dissanayke, Shayani Thennakoon
Note: Dharia (Dharani) Dissanayke, included in the squad, has sustained an ankle injury, and as a result, she will not take part in the series.
What makes this tour particularly exciting is the exposure it offers. Australia’s world-class facilities at established venues will be crucial to sharpen skills against pace-friendly tracks, a departure from the spin-dominant subcontinental pitches. For fans, the series underscores Sri Lanka’s growing investment in women’s youth pathways. The participation at the grassroots level has experienced a surge, yet challenges loom: acclimatising to Australia’s bounce and depth bowling will test resilience.
This isn’t just a series; it’s a launchpad. Will these prodigies spark a new era for Sri Lankan women’s cricket? The answers lie in those six matches Down Under, where dreams meet reality under the sun.
