The contest unfolded as a gripping, low-scoring encounter, with both teams experiencing early setbacks before individual performances shaped the match narrative.
The Netherlands Women had a shaky start after being put in to bat, losing Phebe Molkenboer for a golden duck off the second ball of the innings, caught by Nannapat Koncharoenakai off Phannita Maya. Heather Siegers also failed to provide momentum, departing for 2 off 7 balls, leaving the Dutch side reeling at 2 for 19. Captain Babette de Leede then took charge, anchoring the innings with a composed 47 off 47 deliveries, striking 7 boundaries in a captain’s knock that held the innings together.
However, Sterre Kalis fell for a five-ball duck, adding to the top-order struggles. A crucial middle-order stand between Robine Rijke (15 off 16) and Frederique Overdijk (12 off 13) steadied the innings, helping the Netherlands recover from 41 for 4. Another early blow followed when Nannapat Koncharoenakai fell for 0 off 3 balls, caught off Zwilling again, leaving Thailand struggling at 2 for 0 inside the first over. Nattakan Chantham (26 off 24 balls) and captain Naruemol Chaiwai (33 off 43) then stitched together a stabilising partnership, rebuilding the innings with cautious aggression and rotating the strike effectively.
Chantham struck five boundaries before being dismissed by Isabel van der Woning, while Chaiwai anchored the innings with a patient knock. Thailand continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, with Chanida Sutthiruang (1 off 11) and Suwanan Khiato (1 off 2) departing cheaply.
