Wellington Blaze have been the benchmark for quality this Women’s Super Smash 2025-26 season, currently sitting at the top of the table with 14 points from four matches. They started the tournament with three dominant victories before suffering their first setback in a narrow five-wicket loss to Auckland Hearts. Their success has been built on a balanced attack where the bowlers have consistently defended competitive totals, making them the clear favorites to secure a spot in the Grand Final.

Players to watch out:
Georgia Plimmer
Georgia has taken on a much larger role this season, especially with the absence of some senior internationals, and she has responded by becoming the Blaze’s leading run-scorer with 138 runs. She has shown great maturity at the top of the order, notably anchoring the innings with a solid 36 against Auckland Hearts even when the rest of the lineup struggled to find timing. Her ability to rotate strike and find the boundary when needed has made her the most consistent batter for Wellington. As she continues to grow into her role, she is quickly becoming the technical mainstay of this formidable batting unit.
Xara Jetly
Xara Jetly is arguably the most in-form bowler in the entire Super Smash right now, currently leading the wicket-taking charts with seven scalps. She has been remarkably difficult to score against, maintaining an economy rate of just 4.97 while picking up a wicket every 12.5 balls. Her performance against Auckland Hearts, where she took 3 for 21, was a masterclass in T20 spin bowling, using her flight and turn to deceive established batters. Whenever the Blaze need a wicket to stem the flow of runs, Xara is the first person the captain turns to.
Jess Kerr
The elder Kerr sister continues to be a world-class threat with the new ball, providing the Blaze with the perfect start in almost every match. She has already picked up six wickets this season, utilizing her signature swing to trouble the best openers in the country. Jess is more than just a wicket-taker; her ability to keep things tight at one end often allows the spinners to build pressure at the other. With nearly 100 career wickets in the Super Smash, her experience and skill under pressure remain one of Wellington’s greatest assets as they push for another title.
