December 16 marked an electrifying day of women’s T20 cricket at the SEA Games Women’s Twenty20 Cricket Competition 2025-26 in Bangkok, highlighting the growing competitiveness of the sport in the region. Two very different matches took place, with Indonesia Women shining against the Philippines Women in the morning, followed by Thailand Women delivering a stunning victory over Singapore Women in the afternoon.

Indonesia Women beat Philippines by 140 Runs
In the third match of Group B, the Philippines Women won the toss and decided to field, a decision that quickly proved costly. Indonesia’s top order exploded into action during the powerplay, building an impressive total that showcased their batting depth. Maria Corazon set things in motion with a solid 39 runs off 25 balls. Rahmawati Pangestuti and NPAN Sakarini contributed valuable runs as well, making 20 and 21, respectively. But it was Ni Luh Dewi who truly set the innings alight with her powerful shots, scoring 48 runs off 32 balls. Emily Sirs finished the innings in style, notching up an explosive 53 not out from just 24 balls, which included 10 boundaries. Thanks to a pivotal 76-run partnership between Dewi and Sirs, Indonesia posted a formidable total of 196/5 in their 20 overs.
Despite the Philippines bowlers working hard, especially Reyven Castillo, who took 3 wickets for 26 runs, the damage was done. The Philippines struggled to chase down the massive total, collapsing to 24/4 within the first 10 overs. Ni Wayan Sariani was a standout with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for a mere 8 runs, while Fatimah Albanjari chipped in with 2 wickets for 4 runs. The Philippines limped to 56/8, ultimately falling to a disheartening 140-run defeat.
Thailand Women beat Singapore by 226 Runs
As the dust settled from the morning clash, attention turned to Group A’s fourth match, where Singapore Women opted to field against Thailand Women. Thailand seized the opportunity and launched into an impressive batting display. They amassed a staggering score of 259/4, demonstrating their strength and depth.
The Thai innings was a masterclass in aggressive yet disciplined cricket, with different batters contributing effectively. Natthakan Chantham shone brightly, ending not out on 148 runs, while Nannapat Koncharoenkai added a solid 55 runs. Strong partnerships characterised their innings, particularly during the middle overs. Despite Singapore bowlers like Sara Merican and Shafina Mahesh doing their best, they couldn’t contain the relentless scoring from Thailand’s batters.
In response, Singapore struggled from the outset, with regular wickets falling and mounting pressure disrupting any chance of a successful chase. The Thai bowlers maintained control, ensuring Singapore never posed a real threat, leading to a resounding 226-run victory for Thailand.
These two matches highlighted the exciting progress of women’s T20 cricket in Southeast Asia, showcasing inspiring performances and competitive spirit. With teams vying for semi-final spots, the tournament promises to deliver more thrilling moments as it continues to unfold in Bangkok.
